Anti-Trump delegates are preparing a rules change proposal that would chart a path for delegates to choose their own vice presidential nominee at the Republican National Convention, instead of voting for Donald Trump’s choice.
A draft proposal obtained by BuzzFeed News outlines several changes to Rule 40 that would make it easier for delegates to reject whomever Trump picks as his running mate and present their own alternative. BuzzFeed News has learned that it will be presented at the Rules Committee meeting next week in Cleveland ahead of the convention.
Already, delegates are technically not bound to vote for the nominee’s choice for vice president. But in the past, vice presidential picks have largely been automatically ratified by the convention after being chosen by the nominee.
This year is different, as a vocal contingent of anti-Trump delegates to the convention are searching for ways to stop Trump from being nominated — or, failing that, to at least assert control over the party’s vice presidential nominee.
The proposed rules change centers around Rule 40, which has already been a topic of much discussion this year. One of the rule’s clauses requires a candidate to win the support of the majority of delegates in eight states in order to be considered for the nomination. The rule was changed from five to eight states in 2012 to prevent Ron Paul’s name from being given as an option. Changing that rule would allow non-Trump candidates to be considered for the nomination on the floor.

I think that it is beyond obvious that anti Trump people who take that dislike to the extreme of trying to destroy his becoming the Republican party presidential candidate are well aware that achieving their goal will destroy the GOP and turn this govt over to the uniparty of mingled democrat and Republican and all other parties. Further, these active anti Trump persons are already RINOs. Having been Republican in Name Only for longer than we know. They want the Republican party over and done with. We win with America and Americans First Donald Trump or we lose with puppet Hillary Clinton. That is the choice. GO TRUMP.

I never heard him laugh at Trump in a bad way. He was laughing at how Trump was running circles around the media and amazed at how none of the attacks seemed to be hurting him.
The only time I’ve heard Rush cut someone one is either they were an idiot, or he’s up against a hard break.
Again, Rush has said he’s Anybody But Hillary, and he will support the Republican nominee. Anybody Against Hillary.
But he may think he will be.
The press is making this a bigger thing than it is. What about Bernie’s people? Hillary is in big trouble and we never hear about the Dem delegates. When everyone gets to the convention and it’s TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP with thousands of people screaming TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP, the anti trump people will wither up and go away. There really is not as many as they think.

And Trump delegates can propose a resolution throwing these traitors out of the convention.

We’ll see. To be clear, I will vote for Trump regardless of his pick for VP. But, I do not like the idea of giving ANY dem a job in government.

I don’t give a hoot how long you’ve been on FR, although I generally give you old salts a bit more respect for your time here.
I don’t care to debate. Frankly, you can’t change my mind and I won’t change yours, so a debate would be a waste of time.
Bottomline: I have zero tolerance for folks that are against Trump or sound like they are against Trump.. We seriously have only two options, Clinton or Trump, so all those supporting Clinton or play some magical third option.... can KMA.
If Trump doesn’t win, this country is over. Even if I couldn’t stand Trump he would get my vote for the sake of our country.
