Never let it be said that Newt Gingrich is predictable.
As the political world waits to see if the former Georgia congressman and U.S. House speaker gets tapped to be Donald Trumps running mate, Gingrich teamed up with his former Crossfire partner Van Jones to discuss this weeks shootings in Dallas, Baton Rouge and Minnesota.
Speaking on Facebook Live, Gingrich was his typically direct self. But, in this age of polarized politics, whether it be of the electoral or racial variety, Gingrichs comments were also remarkable. Here is the key quote:
It took me a long time, and a number of people talking to me through the years to get a sense of this. If you are a normal, white American, the truth is you dont understand being black in America and you instinctively under-estimate the level of discrimination and the level of additional risk.

And WERE a big part in his debate preparation. talk to text is horrible on my phone.
Will the last Freeper who thinks this @sshole would be a great running mate for Donald Trump please turn out the lights when you leave?
I don’t need to “understand being black” in America.
There goes his shot at VP.
Craven pandering.
Attaboy GOP.
Newt is now dq for vp
Newt, not here. Not now.
He speaks the truth. We don’t understand why they continue to choose BEHAVIORS that cause them most of their troubles.
“... you instinctively under-estimate the level of discrimination”
Meanwhile half of the federal employees are affirmative action hires. Do not talk to me about discrimination.
Most black people can barely read and write, let alone even speak proper English. There is a reason why they cannot find suitable employment.
They blame whitey for all their problems while doing nothing to educate themselves.
regarding your comment “the world is what you make it”:
The same boiling water that makes a potato soft will make an egg hard. And that same water, when exposed to coffee, will be changed.
The world is the boiling water. We all need to decide if we’re going to be the potato, the egg or the coffee.
it’s his SOP.
he couldn’t even kill PBS when we had control of the house and senate.
compare that to what Pelosi was able to ram through.
i think Newt is overrated. his hissy fit about being forced to sit at the back of Airforce One told me everything i needed to know about him... he wasn’t a principled conservative. he talked a good game, but at the end of the day, he cared more about his own power (and perception thereof).
somebody should really dig up his financial records since he left congress. it would be interesting to see just how much money he’s made from lobbyists while out of the spotlight. i suspect it’s been a lot.
“Gingrich teamed up with his former Crossfire partner Van Jones”
radical communist activist Van Jones.
ping
And there are actually people here at FR that want this idiot to be VP pick for DT?? ack!!
Unless you are black, married and have a full time job or business. Then you don’t have time to be out on the streets after dark protesting, looking for and finding trouble.
Make Black Fathers Great Again!
Anyone with a Twitter account needs to post to Trump saying to NOT pick Newt for Veep!!!
His handle is @realDonaldTrump
I reacted the same way,but then I said,Trump is going to get buried by this Black lives matter crap,so just like the democrats give the blacks what they want to hear, the Democrats promise all kinds of freebies,so throw the bs to deflect the criticism. The democrats do it and the dopes vote for them to the tune of over 90 percent. Over and over and their plight gets worse,so why fight it
you instinctively under-estimate the level of discrimination and the level of additional risk.
That is until you go as a single person and live in
the black community then you will see discrimination
and risk directed at you.
There are racists and bigots of every color and in
every community.
