Conservative columnist George Will told PJM he has officially left the Republican Party and urged conservatives not to support presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump even if it leads to a Democratic victory in the 2016 presidential election.
Will, who writes for the Washington Post, acknowledged it is a little too late for the Republican Party to find a replacement for Trump but had a message for Republican voters.
Make sure he loses. Grit their teeth for four years and win the White House, Will said during an interview after his speech at a Federalist Society luncheon.
Will said he changed his voter registration this month from Republican to unaffiliated in the state of Maryland.
This is not my party, Will said during his speech at the event.

Raise your hand if you’re tired of George Will.
“Grit their teeth for four years and win the White House, said Mr. Will.
The faux conservative message of Mr. Will and his candidates — Mr. Bush I, Mr. Dole, Mr. Bush II, Mr. McCain and Mr. Romney — lost the elections of 1992, 1996, 2000, 2008, 2012. Only in the election of 2004 did the establishment GOP candidate win the popular vote and it was by one of the smallest margins in American history against the extremely weak patrician Mr. Kerry.
In addition, the moderate faux conservative candidates (JEB, Kasich, Graham) were unable to earn single digits in any primary in 2016, except Mr. Kasich in his home state.
The moderate GOPe platform cannot win inside the GOP or in general elections. Mr. Will’s political view has been completely rejected by the people. It will not be compelling in 2020.
Hey Georgie. Goto China, Venezuela, Cuba......
But just GO!
We are sick and tired of the likes of you!
With the right wig and costume George Will could play a dowager countess in Downton Abbey very convincingly.
Not my party either but I’ll be damned if I’ll sit back and watch Hillary completely destroy America. How do George Will and other elites think a future Presidency will matter if the country is broke (even more so) and a progressive Supreme Court is in place for the next 40 years?
No more Romneys, McConnells, PRynos, etc.
Will is a bowtied dork.
However, I am no longer a Republican either.
But....I am voting for Trump.
.
It never was his party as he was a liberal democrat all along.
Krauthammer, his dear friend, should be exiting shortly.
Does this dumbazz really think that ANYONE gives a chit what he's registered as?
I never understood the fascination with this guy. I was never impressed with his elitist opinions. And then he would always bring up baseball? What does baseball have to do with politics? NOTHING.
What does George Will have to do with conservatism? NOTHING. He’s been milking this cow for too many years, it’s time he is put out to pasture, in the out field.
Wow!!! Changing his registration in Maryland. That’s sure to make one helluva difference there. Whatever will the MD-GOP do?
Bowtie guys are almost as annoying as ponytail guys, and equally useless.
“Piss on them, may their chains rest lightly on them.”
I pray, OTOH, that their chains weigh heavily.
I pray often...and always to purpose.
So long, George. Hope you enjoy the puritan isolationism you have created for yourself.
I have been gritting my teeth for 28 years, ever since Bush “read my lips - no new taxes” got elected. Soon, I’ll be toothless. sigh
George Will is all about power. He doesn’t care about the average person. Remember he defended Roberts’ decision on Obamacare?
George Will is no conservative, but he recognized long ago that conservatives actually read books and also have an affinity for historical minutia and other geeky topics.
No money to be made by appealing to liberals.
The man is without honor or principles.
