BRUSSELS: EU chiefs on Friday told Britain to start negotiations to quit the bloc "as soon as possible", after outgoing Prime Minister David Cameron said he would leave the negotiations to his successor.
"We now expect the United Kingdom government to give effect to this decision of the British people as soon as possible, however painful that process may be," said a joint statement after Britons voted for a Brexit .
"Any delay would unnecessarily prolong uncertainty."
The statement was issued by EU president Donald Tusk, European Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker, EU Parliament leader Martin Schulz and Dutch premier Mark Rutte, whose country holds the rotating presidency of the bloc, after crisis talks in Brussels.
Cameron announced he would step down to make way for a new leader by October, adding that the new prime minister would be responsible for officially triggering Article 50 of the EU's Lisbon Treaty to start Britain's divorce from the bloc.

The EU dictators want to put this to bed as soon as possible lest any other countries get similar ideas.
I hope the Queen lives long enough to make this happen. Charlie will screw it up.
Actually, based on the EU rules, you can anticipate this taking a minimum of two years....maybe even ten.
The treaty has to be written up to exit. It has to pass via Parliament. Then the 751 members of the EU have a review, and half have to agree to the wording. After that, twenty-seven members of the EU (the states) all have a go, and twenty must agree to it.
England could write up a friendly deal on business and commerce, to find that the EU at Brussels refuses to be nice about this. Then the EU finds that fifteen of the countries in the EU refuse to screw over the British with a harsh trade deal. My take is that the treaty will take a year to write and get the EU to agree in a nice way to the commerce side. But it’s assuming that no one else stands up for another vote.

Where can we invest in a Brittish razor wire company?
——I worked on a project in Bulgaria and shipped things acros Europe. -——
Now that is an interesting comment. Was the material shipped oversize or hazardous or something requiring special permit ?
I thought freight could transit unimpeded even across the channel.
Not too much. The UK won't be allowed to participate in EU business about it's departure. An explanation here...

This is the EU punks and faggots saying they will try to screw and punish Great Britain for its insolence
Obama and Cameron sitting in a tree....
If Obama had not interfered pre-voting, things just may turned out differently.
just pipe and tools
We lost one truck because the driver took a holiday. I’ve had that happen in the US as well though more than once. You can find trucks and loads of really heavy stuff in the strangest places.
Anyway, yes, I commonly budgeted 5 days for transit under good conditions. Holidays, forget about it.
Watch them now try to delay and delay and delay and make it seem so impossible that “oops, looks like we have to stay”
Who cares what the actual voters think anyway
Just like Obama targeted high profile services to be cut during the last “government shutdown”, the Marxists in Brussels will target British citizens with harsh penalties. Look for currency restrictions, travel hassles, trade red tape, and the like.
EU can suck it up. The UK gets two years to negotiate.
You can always count on progressive twits to throw a juvenile temper tantrum when they lose. Just like the gun control clown posse. They are only children after all. That in turn will help accelerate even more Countries leaving the EU.
OK, goodbye.
Ooh! The little spoiled brats are pissed.
They certainly have enough overly bureaucratic socialized government without the EU. No need to add more.
