Republican senator spent the end of his life apologizing to Muslims for Trump
MSN ^ | 5/19/2016 | Catherine Garcia

Posted on 05/19/2016 4:08:29 AM PDT by HomerBohn

Before he died May 4 from complications stemming from pancreatic cancer and a stroke, former GOP Sen. Bob Bennett of Utah asked his wife, Joyce, and son, Jim, if there were any Muslims in his hospital. If so, he wanted to "go up to every single one of them to thank them for being in this country, and apologize to them on behalf of the Republican Party for Donald Trump."

Joyce and Jim Bennett shared this story with The Daily Beast, as well as other tales involving his disgust with "Donald Trump's xenophobia" and proposal to ban Muslims from entering the United States. Bob Bennett did not end up meeting with Muslims in the hospital, but his wife said while they were at the airport over Christmas, he "would go to people with the hijab [on] and tell them he was glad they were in America and they were welcome here. He wanted to apologize on behalf of the Republican Party."

Jim Bennett also said as a Mormon, his father "recognized the parallel between the Mormon experience and the Muslim experience," and "wanted to see these people treated with kindness and not ostracized."

Bob Bennett had "absolutely no respect for Donald Trump," Jim Bennett said, and was likely "angry and frustrated when it became clear that the party wasn't going to steer clear of Trumpism."

you might not have been clear, but in re-reading I probably didn’t read too clear either. No worries.

This is something you’d expect from a left-wing nutter.

Can’t say I’m too surprised though, a lot of these guys go off the rails. My theory is they get friendly with all the lib scum in Washington and being weak minded they then get infected with liberalism through this social contact. It’s like peer pressure, high school. Then when they don’t have to worry about elections anymore they stop holding back.

I’d advise Republican officeholders and staffers to never socialize with democrats, they are the enemy. You negotiate with them when you have to but as an enemy. No more golfing, more martini lunches.

Autopsies reveal pathologies. Some of those are communicable, and it is best to be aware of them.

I'm aware of that - but the story seemed to spend a bit of time about his Muslim apologist activities. Just as I hate to see a POS honored and feted for his "greatness" after he dies, I also have problems with the mindset that makes one want to crap on one's grave.

Party over principle.

To liberals like Bennett, party is religion.

Best to say all that when one is still alive - crapping on his grave serves no decent purpose - just as honoring a POS after his/her death is a travesty, this is just a classless act.

Gives another entry for those of us whom keep a ‘Who’s grave to piss upon’ bucket-list.

I get it - but it seems as useful as honoring a POS to be "polite" after his/her death. People will do what people will do - it's just irksome when they differ from what I would do - my problem.

Sad that he passed away just the same.

"It is appointed unto men once to die; and after this the judgement."
Hebrews 9:27

Mormonism says: WAIT!!

We are going to have proxy baptisms for those who didn't choose while here on Earth.
They'll get ANOTHER chance because WE are so faithful in following what GOD has told us to do.

Oh but he has no regrets about the white folk Mountain Meadows massacre by Brigham Young.

SOMEbody has!!!

"I am a true believer in the gospel of Jesus Christ, I do not believe everything that is now being taught and practiced by Brigham Young.

I do not care who hears it. It is my last word - it is so.

I believe he is leading the people astray, downward to destruction.

But I believe in the gospel that was taught in its purity by Joseph Smith, in former days.

I have my reasons for it.

"I studied to make this man's [Brigham Young] will my pleasure for thirty years.

See, now, what I have come to this day!

"I have been sacrificed in a cowardly, dastardly manner." (Lee enunciated this sentence with marked emphasis.)

This is something you’d expect from a left-wing nutter.

A Christian 'nutter' might jump up and shout:

MORMONism SUCKS!

To which Harold Brigham Lee would state:

We do NOT teach that!!

Dementia kicks in.

And his wife and son go to a far left site The Daily Beast to crow about it.

It is they who are using Bennett to beat Trump and those of us who agree with him over the head with a dead man's body.

Truly low.

Maybe Mrs. Bennett should wear a burkha.

You know, show some solidarity and empathy.

Fools.

Yes - for the truly evil folks, I make no apologies - the misguided, like the dead senator, are in a different category.

BS..... the fact a man is dead does not raise him above criticism. condemnation should continue for ever.

Because it's so therapeutic for the emotional cripples to have a misguided senator to kick around for the next eternity - makes perfect sense if one happens to be an emotional cripple who needs something to obsess over.

We need to remember the truly evil and pas on that info, not some irrelevant senator who lost his way.

Unless, of course, we happen to be in that needy, emotional cripple status.....

Now, if I were to decide to rail on about how I think you are an emotional cripple and how you speak out against what I think is not normal and right, and to do so daily for the next 30 years, you'd call me a nut case......think about it. How important will that dead senator's opinions and attitudes be next week? If you think you need to condemn him for eternity, have at it - let us know how satisfying it is/was.

Lee practiced plural marriage and had nineteen wives (at least eleven of whom eventually left him) along with sixty-seven children.

Lee had 19 wives and 56 children, and his descendants are now numerous.

Someone needs to correct WIKI. I've no idea which number  (if either) is correct.

The man was a Mormon; and; evidently; a devouted one.

He would have wholeheartedly embraced the sentiments found in reply #76.

Or else!

"Any Latter-day Saint who denounces or opposes, whether actively or otherwise, any plan or doctrine advocated by the 'prophets, seers, and revelators' of the Church is cultivating the spirit of apostacy..."
(Improvement Era, June 1945, p. 354)

Reinforced here......

MP3 File

This is the audio clip of Dallin H. Oaks, current Mormon Apostle leader, from the PBS documentary, "The Mormons", declaring unequivocally:

"IT'S WRONG TO CRITICIZE LEADERS OF THE (MORMON) CHURCH, EVEN IF THE CRITICISM IS TRUE."

Don't criticize?

And here:

Temple Recommend Questions:

1 Do you have faith in and a testimony of God the Eternal Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost?

2 Do you have a testimony of the Atonement of Christ and of His role as Savior and Redeemer?

3 Do you have a testimony of the restoration of the gospel in these the latter days?

4 Do you sustain the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as the Prophet, Seer, and Revelator and as the only person on the earth who possesses and is authorized to exercise all priesthood keys? Do you sustain members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles as prophets, seers, and revelators? Do you sustain the other General Authorities and local authorities of the Church?

5 Do you live the law of chastity?

6 Is there anything in your conduct relating to members of your family that is not in harmony with the teachings of the Church?

7 Do you support, affiliate with, or agree with any group or individual whose teachings or practices are contrary to or oppose those accepted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

8 Do you strive to keep the covenants you have made, to attend your sacrament and other meetings, and to keep your life in harmony with the laws and commandments of the gospel?

9 Are you honest in your dealings with your fellowmen?

10 Are you a full-tithe payer?

11 Do your keep the Word of Wisdom?

12 Do you have financial or other oblgations to a former spouse or children? If yes, are you current in meeting those obligations?

13 If you have previously received your temple endowment:

Do you keep the covenants that you made in the temple?

Do you wear the garment both night and day as instructed in the endowment and in accordance with the covenant you made in the temple?

14 Have there been any sins or misdeeds in your life that should have been resolved with priesthood authorities but have not been?

15 Do you consider yourself worthy to enter the Lord's house and participate in temple ordinances?

Oh, they can say that their leaders were NOT speaking for GOD when they said    WHATEVER    but that's NOT the same as criticizing!

( Remember fellow Christians:  the Mormon's criticize US because they've been taught that they CAN'T criticize ANY of their leaders; so they HAVE to vent somehow! )
