Donald Trump says there’s a 40 percent chance he picks someone from this year’s Republican presidential field as his vice president. But the odds-on favorite to win the veepstakes: Newt Gingrich.

The former speaker of the house was a perpetual thorn in the side of the Bill Clinton administration. And he sounds like he’s relishing a shot at Hillary Clinton. Gingrich has lavished praise on Trump. The business mogul has not said much about the man named Newt. But oddsmakers and betting markets like Gingrinch’s chances nonetheless.

In this unpredictable election season, bookies have some other strange options in mind for Trump. On betting site PaddyPower, you can place money on Mitt Romney (66/1), Lindsey Graham (80/1) and even Trump’s daughter (50/1) as of May 13...

Bush was still the second place finisher, and Reagan wanted to unite the party (of course, I’d much rather he picked Sen. Paul Laxalt, who actually was a Conservative). It’s why picking 2nd place finisher Cruz, an actual Conservative and Texan (sorry, kids, but spending the entirety of his very short time in Canada in a crib does not make him Canadian) makes sense.

And yet he is a Conservative and the runner-up in the GOP primary. Time to bury the hate and unite. Trump-Cruz 2016.

I’d still like to see Allen West on that list.

Not really. Ted is hated by the establishment as much as Trump. So it wouldn’t do anything to help with moderate establishment voters. As for Cruz’s eligibility, being born in Canada does make him a Canadian, as evidenced by his renouncing that citizenship. Whether he was a dual citizen, and if a such can be considered an NBC for purposes of the presidency would have to be decided by SCOTUS. Why take that on, especially since far more people dislike Lyin’ Ted than like him, even in the Republican party, let alone the general electorate?

Cruz would be nothing but a liability to Trump.

I know Cruz is hated by the party Establishment, which is hilarious when folks around here go around claiming he is “one of them.” Trump needs a proven Conservative on the ticket, one that is certainly opposed to the corrupt, statist and leftist establishment, and that is Sen. Cruz.

Oddly enough, I remain unconvinced despite the overwhelmingly strength of your argument.

I think Trump alone puts Wisconsin in play, but Walker will put him over the Top.

Trump couldn't take the Wisconsin primary and yet you think he can win it alone in the general? When was the last time Wisconsin went for the Republican in the general election?

And if Ryan couldn't help Romney win the state in 2012 what make you think Walker will help win it in November?

I agree....but is that last word in your tagline “much” or a typo “must”? Either way I agree.

You honestly think that there is any way at all that Ted Cruz would join a Trump ticket? Never mind the personal attacks on Cruz's wife and father, how does Trump get past the fact that he has said on numerous occasions that he does not believe Cruz is eligible?

You didn’t read my post. You are thinking with your glands and not with your brain. My post is brilliant and it STANDS!!

Tell me, what state does Hunter deliver? None.

What demographic does he enhance? None.

So what does he add to improve the chance of winning? NOTHING!

We have to win the election, period. Hunter doesn’t help that at all.

Same with
Gingrich
Demint
Cruz
Sessions

I hope you understand now.

I understand they all have warts. But we have to win the election.

I don’t care about his running mates credentials.

The ONLY criteria that matters is if the person can deliver a state or enhance a demographic.

It’s time to bury the hatchet and unite behind our top two vote-getters. We need a strong ticket, and Trump-Cruz is it.
