Time ^ | May 12, 2016 | Sam Frizell

Donald Trump is considering former House Speaker Newt Gingrich as one possible option for his running mate in November, according to a source familiar with the discussions...

Gingrich has praised Trump in the past, telling TIME he has “the potential to be an extraordinarily dynamic president who shakes up a bureaucratic city that badly needs to be shaken up.”

NEWT IS A GENIUS and he meets ALL of Mr. Trump's legislative experience dreams, plus Mr. Newt is a Constitutional scholar of supreme excellence, BUT, the demonic-rats and MSM will go full throttle mean and Devil dirty on the former Speaker of the House until Mr. Newt is unrecognizable to his own family and even to us!

I hate to write this because I YUGELY admire and respect Newt Gingrich, but we NEED Mr. Trump to WIN this election!!

Newt would be Trump’s most brilliant choice for VP. He knows Washington better than any person alive and would know how to accomplish a new Contract with America.

Once data caps hit, you’ll be shit out of luck. Once the cable companies bury streaming services, what choice will you have? And how many people get to choose cable providers to begin with? Generally one cable provider, and two major sat companies.

My only concern is Newt’s age, 72. — Trump is 70.

Newt will be 73 in about a month, 3 days after Trump hits 70.

Besides the age issue, Newt negates the effectiveness of some things that Trump was already hitting Hillary on concerning her husband.

But Newt is obviously a very smart guy and in many ways seems like a strong pick.

Yet Trump needs to win over voters who think he is too mercurial or might do something overly extreme. Reagan once said in 1980: "I’ve got to convince people I’m not a cross between Ebenezer Scrooge and the Mad Bomber." Biden helped Obama with this kind of thing in 2008 because he seemed more down to earth. It's not clear that Newt does this for Trump besides his obviously having a lot more experience with government.

In the past Newt has sometimes said things that came across as insincere. There are some similarities between Gingrich and another politician who has been in the news lately.

Newt also knows how to clean Hillary’s clock with the information he knows that few in Washington have. Compared with Newt’s intellect, Hillary is no match. Between Trump and Newt, they would leave Hillary in a spasmodic puddle of protoplasm on the campaign trail.

Besides his experience and success in Congress, what I really like about Newt is that he is a practicing, professional historian.
I believe with all my heart that a lack of historical training has been the root of so many of our problems in this country. It certainly has been the demise of any meaningful public discourse.
People say Newt is brilliant, and as a public speaker he is. Yet his real strength is his knowledge of what has gone on before, what has worked and what has failed.

Lets see how it pans out with Newt....If Trump does 2 terms he could pick a new VP later.

“between them, how many wives?”..........

At least they were “females” which proved they knew the difference, unlike odumbo who there are MANY questions about.

The wisdom was granted before Solomon started collecting women and allowing them to taint Israel with false gods. Yes, Solomon was rich and famous because of God’s gifts to him, but his turning to worldly pleasures kept his sons from ruling a united Israel. Solomon’s punishment not only affected him and his sons but also every tribe for generations.

This isn’t the worst thing that can happen, but I would never bring Newt Gingrich into any political position like this. Old, faded political figures from the 1990s who have spent their careers as Beltway hacks belong in the Democratic campaign, not the Republican side.

LOL, you're a barrel of laughs. I suppose you're God and know that Trump wasn't selected for any higher purpose before he started, "collecting women" ?

I just love people who claim to know the mind of God sufficiently to decide who should or shouldn't be allowed anywhere near elected office when the wonderful "good Christians" who run without fail betray those who voted for them.

I suppose we should all vote for only someone who claims to be the one God chose, not for someone who might stop the rot that the "good Christians" in this country have allowed to happen because they couldn't find a pure enough candidate to support, right?

Like I said ... this guy is the ultimate inside-the-Beltway hack. Donald Trump may discredit himself completely in the eyes of some of his strongest supporters if he brings Gingrich on as his running mate.

I wouldn’t trust time magazine. They’re a has-been. I like Newt. I like others, too. I want to win. I want the veep that will best enable victory.
