As for March, there was an increase in yearly prices due to inflation a 582.9 percent increase for food,

“Practice run for what the leftists have planned for the USA.”
Maybe I should bone up on my ‘grazing fire.’
Socialists think bread/food lines are a good thing because it keeps people occupied with survival instead of storming the palace and lopping of the heads of their “betters.”
I saw this thread and the video was breathtaking.
BUY MORE SUPPLIES!
“lopping of” = “lopping off”
Thanks for the alert
***that the socialist government was not led by the right people.***
I’m sure he considers himself “the right people”. What happens when the “right people” get bullied and run out of town by the “wrong people”?
Bernie would end up kissing the asses of his new overlords.
Socialism/communism is always strongman diplomacy that stifles dissent because the cronies got to get theirs.
Me thinks Venezuela is on the verge of a Salvador Allende moment.
Socialism at it’s best, hunkered down in the Presidential Palace with a helmet on and a sub-machine gun in your hand.
Earlier this week I saw that the Baltic Dry Index (International Shipping of Goods) was at its lowest level, ever.
I had read earlier this week about the 8 Venezuelan soldiers arrested for stealing a goat, because they were hungary.
I didn't see the correlation between inflation and the soldiers theft at that time, and wondered how, and why, it made media news .
Yeah , I saw the photos of the 292 train locomotives sitting in the desert- that represents US shipping within the borders - the photo says reduction of internal shipping.
PA Engineer :" The problem is global including China.
Venezuela is a test tube of failed Keynesian and Socialist economics. "
Quite true ! Frist you run out of luxuries (like toilet paper, beer , etc.) and then no backup supplies of essentials (like milk, bread, eggs, flour, etc).
Then you have internal transport shutting down (OTR Trucks, railroads, local haulers, etc.)so that even local grown commodities can't be transported to local markets ,
you are looking at total economic shutdown.
If you add " agricultural failures, legitimacy collapse of central governments, and commodity deflation " , you have no market to get goods to be transported for sale.
PA Engineer:" ..we are headed into a perfect storm of a failed fiat global currency "
With no value to fiat currency , other than full faith in the government, and no precious metals to back it up, the currency is based only on 'lip-service'.

'that's gotta be one big supermarket'
or 4000 really pi$$ed Latinos who waited in line too long , for too few supplies !
Sorta like Wal-Mart on 'Black Friday' !
Sometimes you have to have the resolve of Charlie Brown at Halloween...
“I got a rock”
Exactly. The EBT riots are coming our way.
Our overlords learned a critical lesson from the French & Bolshevik revolutions, as well as Weimar Germany: Hungry people do desperate things.
Our food stamp program has kept the poorest populations relatively docile (in fact, given many of them diabetes); I don’t see an issue with food causing problems here. We have the fattest poor people in the world...
Americans should have known our own inflation was coming when gas stations changed their signs to digital; our currency has become very unstable. Food will always be propped up by government subsidies, but when car loans can go out 7 years something is wrong. Few people commit to mortgages or children anymore; we’ve become Western Europe (though thankfully import many more braceros than Muslims)...
That will be fun. A couple of rednecks and their dually trucks are nice at creating a cordon zone. The occupants will just love to get to open their safe and open up a can of whoop ass. Heck....maybe the local cops would come by for the laugh.
It’s time for thinking people to plan for the same food situation in any modern complex society. Their failure point came first by socialist price controls etc, but our failure point is just an EBT system failure away.
Once the big supermarkets are looted, visibly on TV, it’ll get ugly everywhere fast. Then, with an impossible security situation in the cities, the external food conveyors will all stop, from farm to factory to distributers etc. Once the food conveyor stops for any reason, massive social ruptures will occur.
For the same reason, I shudder to think about SoCal after a major earthquake that breaks water mains etc. We have overbuilt our capacity to live on the local resources. The meta system has to run, or the anthill gets kicked pretty hard.
