Secretary of State John Kerry took a shot at Donald Trump during his Friday commencement speech at Northeastern University, by saying no wall is big enough to keep dangerous terrorists out of the United States.
"Many of you were in elementary school when you learned the toughest lesson of all on 9/11," he said. "There are no walls big enough to stop people from anywhere, tens of thousands of miles away, who are determined to take their own lives while they target others."
"So I think that everything that we've lived and learn tells us that we will never come out on top if we accept advice from sound-bite salesmen and carnival barkers who pretend the most powerful country on Earth can remain great by looking inward," Kerry added. "And hiding behind walls at a time that technology has made that impossible to do and unwise to even attempt."
Kerry didn't mention Trump by name, but Trump has repeatedly called for a wall on the southern U.S. border, and many Democrats, and some Republicans, have taken to calling him a carnival barker.
Kerry also seemed to dismiss the importance of national borders, and said technology has reshaped the world into one that the U.S. must engage at the risk of being left behind. He said Trump and others who want to look inward are making a mistake, even in the face of rising tension and violence in the world.
"For some people, that is all they need simply to climb under the sheets, close their eyes and push the world away," Kerry said. "And shockingly, we even see this attitude from some who think they ought to be entrusted with the job of managing international affairs."
"The future demands from us something more than a nostalgia for some rose-tinted version of the past that did not really exist in any case," he said. "You're about to graduate into a complex and borderless world."
My gosh, the guy looks senatorial enough in the long suit, but does he have serious brain damage? How is the borderless Europe working out? Is the Trump campaign paying him to say this?

Of course not when the POTUS wants just let them all come in.
Adding to your post Angels27, The Wall is like your home, locks keep 95% of the people out, unless invited in. There will always be that 5% in this world. Bad people will always find a way to cross the border and to get into your house. Now if your armed, and ready to shoot an intruder in your home, the number drops to less than 1%, and with a better than average chance that you can defend yourself, with no time to count on the police, you might survive.
The same is true with the Wall, it will keep 95% of the uninvited people out of the southern border. But, the remaining 5%, like coyotes, who find ways and smuggle people in stand a much better chance of getting caught with the Wall in place, and security measures taken, but there is still that 1% that will come in by sea, or fly over on commercial airplanes, or private planes that we will have to find, and some will get thru, hopefully we will find them, but we won’t have to worry about the 95% that are stopped at the borders.
Those that want to come to America legally have a method to come in, and are welcome to try.
In the meantime, tremendous amounts of money are not being spent on these people, we can instead work on our infrastructure fixing roads, and bridges, and homes, feeding and housing OUR poor and hurting. We can put people back to work with new jobs, our schools will empty out with children who can’t speak English, our Neighborhoods will improve with crime being reduced, our jails will become less burdened with illegals that commit crimes. Everything will become better for everyone.
Still we welcome legal immigration, by people who want to become Americans, that want to learn our language and embrace our culture. I look forward to that.
In the meantime, America starts healing from the inside, we rebuild our military, get businesses to come back to the US by lowering the cost to do business, brought back by people who know business, not politics, and find a government staffed by the best people in the US, not amateurs.
The wall is the first step. Either we are worth saving, or we are not.
Good work on your part. That is exactly what Kerry is doing...albeit unbeknownst to himself.

If, as Kerry says, technology renders borders obsolete, why can’t we have zero (physical) immigration then?
Why do Obama so eager to import large number of foreigners, who may or may not want to integrate into our way of life?
The Caliphate is looking forward to a borderless world, too - all of it united in submission to Allah.
I assume Learch and Ter-a-za have a fence or wall around their compound? Lock their doors? If so then that is unfair.

if anything, we don’t have enough international boundaries. we could use one around californicate . . . hell, all three pacific states. illinois, the worlds corruption capital would be another likely candidate. much of Michigan is a third world country; they poisoned their own water earlier this year. ny and nj would be happier as separate countries . . .
The Left’s (and unfortunately many supposedly on the Right’s) final goal is the obliteration of the United States as a sovereign nation and distinct political and cultural entity. I hope the word really gets out on what Kerry said.
