Trump's wall might be obsolete before it's built

No sooner will the next president be inaugurated than the observance of the 100th anniversary of the U.S. entry into World War I will take place. It will also be the anniversary of the publication of the secret Zimmerman Telegram that helped push Congress and President Woodrow Wilson to declare war on Germany on April 6, 1917.

Not many people today know much, or even care, about the Zimmerman Telegram and how it changed the course of American history. World War I is probably not even mentioned in high school these days.

“It’s not just a wall, it’s mass deportation too.”

I have my “I Like Ike” button in the map table to be seen by all...

Mine fields and MG fortifications might be much, but actually patrols along the border by an armed military force would be sufficient.

Ideally, the border should consist of an 100-150ft zone that stretches the along the physical border. The area would consist of the wall, ~100 foot open, cleared space that contains a maintenance road, and at the end of the zone a chainlink fence.

There’s been no evidence of — “it” —— for decades.

Among the “535 Princes of the Universe” you mean to say I believe.....Folks I hang with have been wanting a replay of IKE’S ‘reverse surge’ !!!

Having actual consequences for being here illegally will be cheaper and more effective against illegal aliens from all nations. By consequences I mean NEGATIVE consequences, not section 8 housing, free health care, etc. Simply showing a resolve to enforce our laws will get rid of the vast majority, most of whom do not walk across a border. A wall is a fine idea but it is an inanimate object easier to point to on TV and avoids blaming the true source of the problems - lack of political resolve to enforce our laws.

I refuse to refer to the wave of people coming from Mexico and Central America as immigrants. “Immigrants” have some desire to assimilate into American society. The overwhelming majority of these people want nothing of the sort, they want to transform the US into Mexico del Norte. That’s invasion, not immigration.

There are close to 13 million LEGAL IMMIGRANTS from Mexico in the US. You can’t deport them. And the total Hispanic population is now 51 million in the US.

The Reconquista of the American southwest is happening, not with Mexican guns, but with Mexican feet and Mexican children

The title insinuates that thus, the wall isn’t worth building. SO I won’t bother to read the article because clearly the wall needs building as a policy start.

Based on time spent on it in my high school history class, the most important event in American history was the 1848 Seneca Falls convention for women's rights.

My favorite exqmple of coming up short on American history was on the Simpsons. The bell rang ending the last day of class and the kids ran for the door. The teacher shouted at the to stop telling them they hadn't covered World War II. The kids stopped and looked back, the teacher flipped through the book and triumphantly said "we won". The kids then ran out of the school chanting "USA! USA!"

I fail to see what this bit of history has to do with the situation now.

You can't deport them (legal Mexican immigrants)

You can assimilate them and make them learn English if the invasion is stopped and reversed. In addition to that, the ones here on work Visas or overstaying their legal stays here can be sent home. Add to that, if they commit crimes, can't they have their immigrant status revoked?

No, but you can make English America's official language, end "bilingual" (Spanish only in reality) programs in schools, stop sponsoring "Chicano studies" programs at State Universities that promote the La Raza mindset, and make it more difficult for those here legally to bring their extended families over. If you do this, those that want to assimilate will stay, the others may be motivated to self-deport.
