Donald Trump had a tepid response when asked if he would consider GOP presidential rival Ted Cruz for the Supreme Court, should the businessman win the White House.
"I don't know, I'd have to think about it," Trump told the Daily Mail in an interview Monday.
"There's a whole question of uniting and there's a whole question as to temperament," Trump continued. "He's certainly a smart guy, but there's also a temperament issue.
"He's got a tough temperament for what we're talking about," Trump said. "You have to be a very, very smart, rational person, in my opinion, to be a justice of any kind."
Trump told The Washington Post that he plans to announce upward of a dozen judges from which he'd pick to fill Supreme Court vacancies.
Cruz, a former Texas solicitor general, has been mentioned by Republicans as a potential replacement to fill the vacant seat previously held by the late Justice Antonin Scalia.
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Monday described such a scenario as scary.
For his part, Cruz insisted in March that he was more focused on nominating justices to the court than becoming one.
Trump made his comments to the Mail as he and Cruz battle in Indiana heading into Tuesday's primary in the Hoosier State, a key opportunity to pick up more of the delegates needed to secure the nomination.

//Would probably be best to move all the primaries to the same date.//
I have been advocating that for years. Sadly, many states thrive on being ‘first’
I lost my enthusiasm for SCOTUS Cruz when he announced his Presidential campaign. He obviously does not respect the natural born citizen clause, nor American sovereignty. I was on board before that.
I agree with that.
A year ago I woulda thought ‘great idea’. Teds just too unbalanced now to be given a lifetime appointment. I just wouldn’t trust him and am not sure who the real Ted is at this point.
This was actually a diplomatic answer.
Bottom Line: Cruz burned his bridges. He has three career possibilities to provide for his family in the style to which they have become accustomed:
Return to practicing law
Start a talk radio show
Sell religion like his father
####
He could go full bore Mormon, having already paddled around in those waters with apparent comfort. Ask for Stabby and Willard to help him recover in Utah and become a regional presence, or perhaps mild another federal Senate gig.
Talktalktalk radio is probably on its way out and that voice would be unendurable.
“I want Cruz, his extremely disfunctional family, and everyone connected to him to just disappear and never be heard from/about ever again.”
I’d like to hear one day that the girls escaped the compound and established lives for themselves in which they were happy, contented and productive. Otherwise, yeah.
Yes, so would I. Those poor children are in a terrible environment and I worry a lot about them.
“Ive been away as we had a death in the family and all that entails....those are always rough waters for all.”
I’m very sorry to read this. Such times are indeed always rough waters as you say. Please accept my condolences.
I appreciate your many postings regarding the Constitution and the Amendments.
Cruz is an “originalist” like Scalia, who believes the Constitution is not a living document. As a SC Justice, he would help to balance the court.
He could make Cruz the last American Czar, eliminating that unconstitutional mess at the same time. As a Czar, he would work directly for the POTUS and not be confirmed by the senate.

Good posting and probably the most logical and coherent I’ve read on this thread, so far. ...Most other comments are nothing but nasty-bombs against Cruz.
That said, he has earned Trump's statements about his "issues" of temperament and maybe even God-complex these days as he melts the rest of the way down.
What? Is Trump already thinking about running for the Senate? NY will elect any slimeball. Maybe be can get Hillary’s endorsement.
Like Trump did!
TRUMP!
I just get sick of hearing about her going on the court cuz trump praised his sister. It’s from the Cruz supporters.
I'd like to think of Cruz naming appointees to the Supreme Court.
Hanging out with stabby the clown, Beck, is never a good thing.
I agree that Cruz would help to balance the court. But given that the Ivy League law schools are evidently not teaching the federal governments constitutionally limited powers as the Founding States had intended for those powers to be understood, Cruz arguably has a faulty understanding of state sovereignty.
So the question is, can Trump find a better protector of state sovereignty than Cruz to replace Justice Scalia (RIP)?
Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore comes to mind. He undoubtedly understands state sovereignty quite well. But hed also be a politically incorrect nominee, imo, since low-information citizens dont understand the federal governments constitutionally limited powers.
People just ask Trump questions like him just to see him try and act unifying and presidential. Cruz has no interest in being on the Supreme Court and Trump has no interest in appointing him.
Looks like the ball is OUT of play.
Maybe you’ll join the Trump supporters in fighting Hellary....and getting back to some of your great work of posting pics/updates of those who are trying to usurp this great nation.
I suppose time needs to do what it does so well after an election loss.......Currently I dont wish to continue to play the game where we have the illusion of choice, and every 4 years we bend over, grab our ankles, and scream thank you sir, may I have another.....only time will determine if I think differently .... let me know when we develop a party to compete with the Democrats....as I see it now this is not it.....though I understand others disagree.....for now the only thing I'm certain of is I no longer consider myself a Republican...what that means remains to be seen....as I'm certainly not a Demorat...or anything inbetween..
