Cruz is an “originalist” like Scalia, who believes the Constitution is not a living document. As a SC Justice, he would help to balance the court.
I agree that Cruz would help to balance the court. But given that the Ivy League law schools are evidently not teaching the federal governments constitutionally limited powers as the Founding States had intended for those powers to be understood, Cruz arguably has a faulty understanding of state sovereignty.
So the question is, can Trump find a better protector of state sovereignty than Cruz to replace Justice Scalia (RIP)?
Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore comes to mind. He undoubtedly understands state sovereignty quite well. But hed also be a politically incorrect nominee, imo, since low-information citizens dont understand the federal governments constitutionally limited powers.
