[George Will]:If Trump is nominated, the GOP must keep him out of the White House
Washington Compost ^ | 29 April 2016 | George Will

Donald Trump’s damage to the Republican Party, although already extensive, has barely begun. Republican quislings will multiply, slinking into support of the most anti-conservative presidential aspirant in their party’s history. These collaborationists will render themselves ineligible to participate in the party’s reconstruction.

Ted Cruz’s announcement of his preferred running mate has enhanced the nomination process by giving voters pertinent information. They already know the only important thing about Trump’s choice: His running mate will be unqualified for high office because he or she will think Trump is qualified.

Hillary Clinton’s optimal running mate might be Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio, a pro-labor populist whose selection would be balm for the bruised feelings of Bernie Sanders’s legions. Running mates rarely matter as electoral factors: In 2000, Al Gore got 43.2 percent of the North Carolina vote. In 2004, John Kerry, trying to improve upon Gore’s total there, ran with North Carolina Sen. John Edwards but received 43.6 percent. If, however, Brown were to help deliver Ohio for Clinton, the Republican path to 270 electoral votes would be narrower than a needle’s eye. [SNIP]

Trump would be the most unpopular nominee ever, unable to even come close to Mitt Romney’s insufficient support among women, minorities and young people. In losing disastrously, Trump probably would create down-ballot carnage sufficient to end even Republican control of the House. Ticket splitting is becoming rare in polarized America: In 2012, only 5.7 percent of voters supported a presidential candidate and a congressional candidate of opposite parties.

Let George Will be kept from his perch at Fox Studios by these Lefty vermin and he would be so furious I think he would lay an egg. For someone who is acting like Chicken Little, I think he might lay an egg looking at Trump’s image on TV. Lay us a dozen, George.

Do you think Trump picking Rubio for running mate or in cabinet would help?

If George Will were correct, and Trump can’t get any support, WHY on earth would the GOP need to do anything to keep him out of the White House.

I am 57 and have been in the party my whole life. In fact the first time I got elected, it was as a write-in candidate. (The precinct chairman moved out of the precinct. He told me it was too late to get on the ballot, but if I just got a few votes I’d win). That started my career as a precinct chairman which lasted until 1988 and picked up again in the 90’s after I moved.

In 1988 the Pat Robertson campaign took over precinct conventions all over the country including mine. Normally about four people show up to precinct conventions. That time a church group came in about 12 people. They had a tape from the Robertson campaign on how to take over a precinct convention. I remember it very well. I was temporary chairman of the convention of course but the first order of business was to elect a permanent chairman. They elected their preacher.

An interesting thing was how glowing in praise the preacher was to me. Talk about blowing smoke. He told me how he truly appreciated all the work I’d done in the precinct over the years and how much he’d want to lean on me for advice. It was all blowing smoke, but it really did make me feel; better. After all, it’s hard to say he’s a minority when there’s 12 of them and 4 of you. Anyway, these people were the nicest people and I worked well with them in the party though over time they mostly lost interest and disappeared.

I have known 100 of the blue haired ladies who wear elephant hats and work hundreds of hours to keep every little party office going. I’ve gone to 40 of their funerals, often with elephants on their coffins.

One more point I want to make (BTW, I voted Rubio in the primary). George Will has been part of the Republican Party for 50 years. For many years he was the only Republican with four Democrats on This Week with David Brinkley. He worked closely with the Buckleys and the Reagans. You think his time has passed? You’re probably right. Maybe mine too. But how about recognizing that Will worked for 50 years doing what he thought best to help Conservatism in some pretty bleak times when Democrats had the House for 40 years and overwhelming majorities in the Senate. (Think like now but the Dems controlled every seat in the south too.)

So now the Trump people are going to take over the party. Won’t be the first time. Won’t be the last. But can’t you people be just plain nicer people? Can’t you thank George Will for his opinion and say you think it’s time to bring new people into leadership? Do you have to be so vulgar? Calling Will a moron? After 50 years of work? What is with you people? And I know it’s working for Trump so it will work for you too, but it will be up to Trump to unite the party if he wants to win, and calling someone a liar and criticizing a Governor’s eating habits is not the way to do it.

And what an I supposed to make of this guy telling me I’m just blowing smoke and don’t know what I’m talking about.

People. You’re supporting a vulgar candidate who I will probably have to vote for. I’ve voted for every Republican president since my first vote for Reagan. Make it a little easier for me. Just be decent people. Have something to say a little more substantive than, “he’s a moron,” or “he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”

The post is useful in providing an example of how crazy people can be. And how to write really long without providing anything useful.

So WHY do you employ her?

Couldn't you find a nice GOPer to be your secretary?

But the rest of this nation isn't Texas nor California...yet and not ALL sort of Spanish last named people are against Trump!

I notice a trend here, where the GOP sees large losses in both the house and senate.

What Will and NRO have been attempting to do is lay the blame of those losses on Trump.

Instead, they should realize those upcoming losses, and Trump’s rise in popularity are due to their own games on the American people.

The losses would come regardless of who the nominee is, and I reckon might be more tempered with Trump in office.

But, Will and others should be concerned that once Trump becomes POTUS, he does become the effective leader of the RNC. And THAT could spell disaster for the likes of Graham.

“Of course, he never says who he thinks could beat Hillary Clinton.”

...because that is not his goal. His goal (whether he realizes it or not) is the overthrow of the Sovereign Nation of the United States of America. It is becoming clearer every day... these people want to overthrow the government of the people, by the people and for the people... it may not be a direct democracy, but it has the same intent. WE RUN THE DAMNED COUNTRY, not bastards like Will.

It’s not WHO won in Colorado... honestly, its that they subverted the will of the people through a process they manipulated to form their plans, without the consent of the governed.

I hope that The Donald will point his finger and say, “Your Fired!” to all the piggies at the trough and also, point his finger at all the criminals and say, “Go to jail. Go directly to Jail!” Every one in the money sewer of Washington DC needs to feel the arm of the law.

Well who is going to be in charge of the GOTV for Trump. He doesn’t have many offices open. He hasn’t raised nearly enough money. Is he going to start mortgaging his buildings and putting $ 500 million of his own money in? I doubt it.

He’s going to want to use the existing structure. There are 31 Republican Governors out there who have varying degrees of organization. In the most important state for a Republican, Ohio, the Governor has an incredible organization not just in cities but even in towns. So is Trump going to go to Kasich and ask him to turn over his organization to him? First he’s going to have to have the talk. “John. I want to sincerely apologize for the disgusting eating crap. I got carried away and I want to sincerely apologize because that was way over the line.” Does Trump have it in him to do that? or is he going to start from scratch without enough money? Or will he just ignore GOTV and try to do things differently?

George Will is a self-declared atheist, and the Bible has this to say about George Will the atheist:

"The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God'. They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds, there is none that does good."      Psalm 14:1

I employ her because she’s a wonderful worker and we’ve been together in a two person office for 15 years.

She is a GOP’er. She voted for McCain and Romney and voted for Rubio in the primary. She is just getting tremendous family peer pressure to vote for anyone but Trump. She hates Hillary because in our occupation everybody hates Hillary.

No, not every state is Texas or California, but pay attention to what’s happening down here because you will start to see the demographic change where you live too if you aren’t already seeing it.

My advice to Trump would be to pick a woman CEO as his VP candidate. Run against the politicians.

Rubio would be a good choice if he wanted a politician which he says he does, but Rubio would have to swallow a lot of crow to accept the offer. How do you go to work for a guy who’s been calling you “Little Marco” for the past six months. On the other hand, he will be out of a job and needs a paycheck, so maybe. Most people say they don’t want the VP job but few people turn it down.

Rubio was on Romney’s final four list with Pawlenty, Christie, and Ryan. He wanted Christie, but his vetting team couldn’t get him to turn in the info they wanted so finally he was crossed off. Rubio was considered too inexperienced to be President.

George Will was Reagan’s debate coach preparing for the 1980 debate with Jimmy Carter.

Are you old enough to remember “Debategate”? Will was accused of stealing Jimmy Carter’s debate preparation book and giving it to the Reagan campaign.
