Patti Davis, daughter of late President Ronald Reagan and Nancy Reagan, penned an open letter Thursday to Will Ferrell, criticizing the actor for agreeing to play the 40th president in an upcoming satirical film about his battle with dementia.
I saw the news bulletin as did everyone that you intend to portray my father in the throes of Alzheimers for a comedy that you are also producing, Ms. Davis, a former actress, wrote in her blog. Perhaps you have managed to retain some ignorance about Alzheimers and other versions of dementia. Perhaps if you knew more, you would not find the subject humorous.
Alzheimers doesnt care if you are President of the United States or a dockworker. It steals what is most precious to a human being memories, connections, the familiar landmarks of a lifetime that we all come to rely on to hold our place secure in this world and keep us linked to those we have come to know and love, she continued. I watched as fear invaded my fathers eyes this man who was never afraid of anything. I heard his voice tremble as he stood in the living room and said, I dont know where I am. I watched helplessly as he reached for memories, for words, that were suddenly out of reach and moving farther away. For ten long years he drifted past the memories that marked his life, past all that was familiar
and mercifully, finally past the fear. There was laughter in those years, but there was never humor.

I cannot even comprehend anyone even conceiving of a comedy about Alzheimers,
if you were reading some Facebook comments following the death of Justice Scalia, you coulld easily understand how this little endeavour would hardy trouble some people...
Time and time again, we have seen entertainment industry leftists deliberately push, poke, and slash the outer edges of the envelope of public civility and good taste, in a seemingly mindless effort to somehow profit from the resulting outrage.
They are continuing a tradition of extreme rhetorical distortion that began in the sixties, and continues anachronistically today in the minds and hearts of these leftist inspired, money grubbing, hypocrites who think of themselves as actors, performers, singers, movie producers, etc.
Fraud and bad taste used in this way, should by all rights denigrate and blacken the reputations and future of those perpetrators. The question then and the variable that might end this kind of execrable behavior is the reaction of the intended audience.
Therefore, let us all add this vile person’s name to the list of those the sink into oblivion, along with the Dixie Chicks, Ralph Nader, Bill Maher, and other fools. Ignore them and their filth.
I’ve no doubt at all you’re right about 0bama, a juvenile brain in a mans body.
It covers the disease, medical, legal, financial information and guidance.
I suggest everyone should read the book.
Good for her; maybe she’s coming around. Doing the right thing for a change. She gave a halfway decent eulogy at Nancy’s funeral (if you don’t count a couple low blows).
“Women know when they have a UTI, but elderly men often don’t.”
Actually, elderly women “present” differently from younger days when they have UTIs. They can show signs of dementia, and have balance issues. When my mom was falling and having problems with her memory, the county Office Of The Aging said the first thing to do is have her checked for a UTI. That was it.
In older years, the symptoms are different.
Trump was attacked by public and the media for allegedly mocking a reporter with a neurological disorder; at least this time Leftists are being treated equally on this issue, it looks like.
Well, I suppose. Trump wasn’t funding a full length movie and staring in it to make fun of people with a disability.
It’d probably be funnier by far than Will Feral’s project here.
