Europes plans to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by switching from conventional oil to biofuels actually ended up increasing emissions, according to a study published Monday by the environmental group Transport & Environment (T&E).
The study found, on average, biofuel from vegetable oil creates 80 percent more CO2 emissions than the conventional oil it replaces. The report estimates the biofuels create new emissions equivalent to putting an extra 12 million cars on the road.

No problem. I’m sure Obama will offer to make it up by reducing ours even further
But their intentions were good. That is the only thing that matters.
He says that maybe, since current practice makes things much worse, maybe they should “phase out” the biofuels “after 2020.” After all, why not keep it up for another four years before we think about changing it?
Oddly enough, the climate agreement sigend in gay paris set the stage for the countries to start thinking about how they might implement proposed plans to maybe reduce See Uh Oh 2 levels. Or at least set targets to try to figure out. Sounds definitive to me just like the settled science.
Whooop whoop whooop whooop. Why I oughta............
Yeah, and Spain went broke in the process. Just brilliant.
And clearing rainforest for palm oil plantations destroys habitat of endangered species like orangutan, so...It’s a twofer!
Unsaid in this article, but the Euros are trying to figure out how to back away from most diesel (not just biodiesel), which they have been promoting for years. The reason is the same; it’s making pollution worse than advanced gasoline and gas/electric hybrids.

That’s OK, they tax vehicles on the amount of CO2 they emit, so they probably made a net profit on the deal.
For reference, I looked up the tax on the car I drive. In the UK, I would be paying an annual CO2 tax of about $450 to cover the damage I would be doing to the environment.
I’m just waiting for the US to discover that source of revenue. They will need the money to house, feed, and care for the hundreds of thousands of Syrians and Somalis that are pouring in.
Also look for some kind of special added annual tax based on vehicle weight, at least over a certain (too low) limit.

Much like the Germans found out that when they dumped nuclear for wind and solar, they had to burn more coal to make up the difference and assure continuous power.
Global Warming on Free Republic here, here and here
It’s OK. I’m pro churning out more Co2. I’d like to kick it up to pret-near 1500 ppm.
Let’s green the planet!
