A federal judge on Monday night upheld North Carolinas voter ID law, the Charlotte Observer reported.
Judge Thomas Schroeder issued a 485-page ruling posted online Monday evening, dismissing all claims in the challenge to the states 2013 election law overhaul.
Schroeder, appointed by George W. Bush, also upheld portions of the law that cut the number of days people could vote early and eliminated same-day registration and voting allowances.
"This ruling further affirms that requiring a photo ID in order to vote is not only common-sense, it's constitutional," Gov. Pat McCrory said in a statement.
Opponents immediately condemned the decision.
"The sweeping barriers imposed by this law undermine voter participation and have an overwhelmingly discriminatory impact on African-Americans, Dale Ho, director of the ACLUs Voting Rights Project, said in a statement to the Observer.
An appeal to the ruling is likely, and many expect the case to go all the way to the Supreme Court.
Good news.
Of course, the dems immediately cry racism.
TOO LATE for a SCOTUS review this year. HUGE blow to Demoncats.
Would “The Hill” have noted that Clinton/Obama appointed the judge had it been the case, and had the judge gone the other way?
How?
The Supreme Court expressly upheld voter ID laws back in 2008. If I recall it was a 6/3 decision.
Of course “settled law” does not apply to liberals.
By not allowing them to vote multiple times.
I hear you, doubtful.
Well at least the GOP can probably hold NC this election then. We need tough voter ID laws in WI, PA and OH now. Democrat vote fraud has been rampant in Milwaukee, Philadelphia and Cleveland the past 2 elections.
The Ballots are written in Cursive?
I wonder what crazy moonbat social justice warrior white male hating nutjob lawyers hillary has lined up to appoint
Only judges appointed by Democrats are allowed to issue definitive rulings on this subject.
North Carolina is kicking some commie ‘RAT liberal ass this month. Outstanding. Shout out to North Carolinians.
This is like a breath of fresh air in a global warming environment caused by the global warming politicians.
Way to go, Judge...
We’ll expect to hear from Rev. William “The Buffet Slayer” Barber screaming about this very soon....
Why the heck does it take nearly 500 pages to write, “No”?? Getting too wordy opens his opinion up for appeals.
One liberal court to overturn. Then a tied supreme court and voter fraud is inculcated forever in the republic. They are so close. So close. Still think Scalia was natural causes. I don’t anymore.
485 page ruling? How in the world does it possibly take a ruling as large as a mid-size novel to adjudicate common sense?
Anyway, great news. Maybe he has ironclad case law in the 485 pages that will help other states.
