Rhode Island Poll:
90% of Female Voters Reject Senator Ted Cruz

For the past several weeks Senator Ted Cruz has been running a presidential campaign based on a strategy to ‘win despite the voters’. The latest Brown University poll (full pdf below) of Rhode Island voters highlights why.

The Brown U Poll shows Donald Trump with a lead of 38%, Governor Kasich second with 25% and Ted Cruz in dead last with only 14% support.

The poll surveyed a random sample of 600 registered Rhode Island voters who are likely to vote in the presidential primaries. It was conducted April 19 to 21 and has an overall margin of error of 4 percent.

However, the 19 Rhode Island delegates are distributed proportionally (13 by state vote count, and six by the two congressional districts’ vote count) with a minimum threshold of 10% to get any delegates; so even with only 14% it is possible for Senator Cruz to pick up a few delegates.

If the voting result outcome on Tuesday resembles the polled data:

  1. Trump gets approx 9 delegates
  2. Kasich gets approx. 6 delegates
  3. Cruz gets approx. 4 delegates

Kind of an honor being vilified in Rhode Island.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m currently a Trump supporter. But leftist Rhode Island is not a state I would expect a constitutional conservative to win in the general.

By the way Trump is over 60% in Rhode Island - just saying.

“Conservatives don’t do well in liberal states...” Then how did he win Wisconsin and Maine?

Cruz flamed out in some pretty deep red states like MI, AL and SC, too. Proving he is a niche candidate and not a national one.

Probably afraid that Ted will try to stop their 16 year old daughters from stripping, (legal in RI, seriously.)

The video doesn’t portray what you claim.

You probably already know that.

That means...

LNV pretty much provided you the same answer I was planning to post, save for citing MI.

I would have cited my own state, MS and also AZ.

Cruz does his best work in voterless states.

Just an index of the moribund condition of the Catholic Church in the most-heavily “Catholic” areas of the country.

For decades, the states that were more than half Catholic had two pro-abortion Senators, while there wasn’t a state (the South) with Catholics in the single digits that didn’t have two pro-life Senators.

I use the past tense, but it may still be true.

The Catholic bishops have been INFINITELY more loyal and attached to the Democrat party than to the teaching of the Catholic Church. Most pro-lifers in the past 45 years have experienced the local bishop as quietly hostile to openly hostile.

You said it all - GOPe and ego (plus vendetta) are what’s driving Cruz now - he’s a cat’s-paw husk of what he started as.

“Vendetta” is a very good word for it at this point. Cruz knows he can’t win the presidency, so in revenge he wants to make sure that Trump can’t win, either.

He's turned out to be pretty petty and majorly unconcerned about the will of the People that he claims to be Champion of..

Sorry, who gives a whit about Connecticut?

Waste of time and money for 3 EC votes

A few years ago we attended a function in Austin where Cruz was the guest speaker.

You really have to get up close to this guy to see how really phony, oily and slimy he really is.

Well Cruz didn’t do well in the south either. They left the north last so a conservative had a chance. Trump is that guy. You can’t complain about Cruz losing northeast liberal states when he lost all the southern conservative states. The northeast has to vote sometime.
