Donald J. Trump said Thursday that transgender people should be allowed to use whatever bathroom they feel most comfortable with — including at Trump Tower in New York.
Dipping into a contentious issue by taking a stand many Republicans oppose, Mr. Trump told a town-hall-style event, hosted by NBC’s “Today” show at Rockefeller Center in Manhattan, that when people go to the restroom, they should “use the bathroom they feel is appropriate.”
Mr. Trump, the Republican presidential front-runner, was responding to a question about a bill that North Carolina’s governor signed into law last month that bars individuals in the state from using public bathrooms that don’t correspond to their biological sex — the one listed on their birth certificate. Since then, there has been a backlash from businesses and celebrities opposed to the state’s action. And transgender issues have pitted social conservatives against business interests that traditionally have been part of the Republican coalition in the South and elsewhere.
“North Carolina did something — it was very strong — and they’re paying a big price,” Mr. Trump said. “And there’s a lot of problems. And I heard — one of the best answers I heard was from a commentator yesterday saying, leave it the way it is, right now.”
He added that before the law passed, there had been “very few problems” but now North Carolina is experiencing an exodus of businesses and “strife” from people on both sides of the issue.
“You leave it the way it is,” he said. “There have been very few complaints the way it is.”
North Carolina’s law, which also removed anti-discrimination protections for L.G.B.T. people, and the backlash to it, is now at the heart of the state’s hotly contested governor’s race.

I’m a female so I feel I should go to the Female bathroom...
for me it is appropriate to use the room with “LADIES” or “WOMEN” on the door...
I think people wanted to grab onto anything that could put Mr Trump in a bad light and have chosen to get hung up on the word “feel”
show me where he said its OK for people who think they are so called “transgender” to go to any bathroom ...
I think people have deliberately misconstrued what he said...

Says it all, the states should have the right to decide what matter to them individually. Would a President Trump support the 10th amendment? I really don’t think so, based upon this statement and countless others he has made.
I am a small government constitutionist, that wants the Federal government to only have enough power to maintain law and order, everything else (including taxation, BATF, BLM, EPA, Dept. Energy, Dept. Education, etc.) should reside with the states. Big brother is too big and it needs to be dismantled.
Who says we can’t be concerned about *both* issues? And by the way, I’m not a Cruzer(anymore)or a Trumpster.At this point, I don’t know what I will do on election day.

What can we construe from that statement?
On the face of it, it tells me that regardless of whether or not we have GENTS or LADIES on the door, you can enter any door you feel appropriate.

Not trying to pick on ya, but come on man. Transgendered are emotionally unstable and I believe them to be a threat. In fact, not so many years ago, pshycatrist diagnosed them as such. Not so many years ago, a homosexual/transgendered person would NEVER qualify to hold a national security clearance. It is because they were deemed unstable.

RE: Making Christian businesses bake cakes is not the same principle. That is essentially forced labor, which is slavery. Private business owners have the right to decide when, how, and for whom they will work.
This then is an EXISTENTIAL ISSUE for me. It goes right into the FIRST AMENDMENT <-— the FIRST BASIC RIGHT in the Bill of Rights of the Constitution.

It was a dumb thing to say, and the Donald will need to clarify his position on this because the issue is not going away and if Trump is in favor of preferential transgender treatment including rest room access that will be a deal killer for many of his supporters and potential supporters
