The real estate mogul's final sprint for to lock down 1,237 delegates starts in New York.
The billionaire is poised for a ringing victory that will take the edge off a brutal month of controversy and soaring unpopularity. Its a chance for Trump to rewrite a campaign narrative that seemed to get away from him and will likely be the first triumph in a cascade of victories across the northeast over the next week.

“Cruz can do that (in terms of burying the hatchet and uniting the party)...and I hope and pray he will.”
I pray the same. If Cruz does that, and his supporters follow suit,,then I, as an ex-Cruz now Trump supporter would welcome them with open arms!
It would make Cruz look so big and statesmanlike. He will need that image if he wants a future in politics. Right now his image isn’t so great.
I don’t think Trump plans on making a career of politics. I do think Trump wants what is best for the country. Party interests are secondary.
Thank you for an excellent post.
Thank you Jeff.
I’m hoping that everyone takes that advice; we’ll see if they do.
That’s what I thought. Seems the max available is only 267 the next couple weeks (it was from last week). So, today through next Tuesday.
I’m guessing Trump is going to pick up at least 167 delegates between now and next Tuesday. With the remaining divided between the other two.
Thanks
“My hope is that Cruz, once his mathematical path is closed and sealed, and if Trump really does well next week...that Cruz in May will put down the war hatchet and come out in support of Trump and help build the winning team we simply have to have for November.
Cruz can do that (in terms of burying the hatchet and uniting the party)...and I hope and pray he will.”
I agree with you. Well stated.
He will definitely lost 83+ by next Tuesday night.
I’m guessing Trump will pull 71/72 delegates just from New York. But even if it was only 63 delegates, that magic 83 is coming next week for sure. At least double that, I think.
I’m estimating Trump at 1,240-1,249 or above the average of those two at about 1,246.
This assumes Trump loses Nebraska, Montana and South Dakota completely with 0 delegates but gaining 64 of 132 uncommitted or just slightly under 50% of those.

Congrats Donald for being a liberal “republican” who is able win in bluer than blue states! That’s quite an accomplishment.
“Congrats Donald for being a liberal republican who is able win in bluer than blue states!”
...and the entire south.
Ssseh. Don’t mention that.
Agree. I’m hoping that Cruz will step aside. It would be the best thing for the country.
I think over the next few weeks there are a total of 275 delegates something like that. I wish it were 400.
Cruz is on a mission for the second ballot now. I understand it as too cute by half.
Ping!

Ted could start the demolition of the GOPE by saying go Trump and then helping Trump to destroy the GOPe open border thugs, pundits and pr mediots.
Yes, my friend he can...and I am prying that he will.
It will probably not be until after Indiana...but could be possible after next week.
He is mathematically eliminated now in terms of gaining the needed delegates via future primary/caucus votes.
He has to know that the GOPe hates his guts and only wants to use him to stop Trump and retain their power.
In the past he has stood strong against the GOPe, and until Trump entered the race and began doing so well, he was considered the definitive anti-GOPe candidate.
So, I am hoping he prayerfully considers this, sets aside his pride and the war hatchet, and does what is absolutely best for the nation.
An ugly fight at the convention does not serve this nation’s interests. It would fracture the GOP in a year when we should win, and particularly at a time when the GOPe can be delivered a stunning and debilitating blow.
As I say, I am hoping and praying that this is what Cruz realizes and then acts upon.
Godspeed my friend!
Thanks for the ping.
Thanks my FRiend, and God Speed/Love for you and yours!
