JTA If Ohio Gov. John Kasichs visit to Hasidic Brooklyn this week had yielded only one amusing moment, Dayenu it would have been enough.
But, thank God, there were many in the Republican presidential candidates visit to a Jewish bookstore, shmura matzah bakery and Hasidic school in Borough Park on Tuesday.
Its a wonderful, wonderful holiday for our friends in the Jewish community the Passover, Kasich told reporters after emerging from the matzah bakery, a box of the fresh-baked stuff in hand.
Yes, Jews are known to love The Passover, almost as much they love The Pre-Election Drop-By from vote-seeking politicians.
Flanked by Hasidic publicist Ezra Friedlander, Kasich then launched into a brief appraisal of the links between Passover and, um, the blood of Jesus Christ.
The great link between the blood that was put above the lampposts er, you mean doorposts, governor the blood of the lamb, because Jesus Christ is known as the lamb of God. Its his blood, we believe

In the 1 Co 5:7 passage, Paul addresses both the unleavened bread and the Passover Lamb.
This all, of course, also ties into Communion...bread/cup flesh/blood.
But, this thread doesn’t seem headed toward a discussion of Christian truth. :>)
Jumbled it up works. Just not thinking.
Bringing the gospel to the lost tribes of Israel; make’s Cruz look like a piker!!
Ok, that is silly. It is not the same level of mistake. In my case I was talking about the word of Kasich, which might be a little less important than the word of God. I also said something that was nearly equivalent and not completely different.
Secondly, if one is running for President, it is not the time to try to do apologetics with the same people you are trying to convince to vote for you. Kind of like hey vote for me, and btw the guy your religion rejects as an apostate, he is actually the true Messiah...let me see if I can get my facts straight to convince you....Talmud you say? Hmmm, ok...uhm....
Using “the media” and “eliminated” in a sentence is redundant. ;’)
Everything leads me there, lol. I was thinking also of the Psalm that says “When he struck the rock, water gushed out and streams flowed abundantly” and the NT declaring that “the Rock was Christ”! I can only imagine the endless light bulbs going off inside a Jewish mind when they believe in Christ (and the tears of joy).
I made the same kind of mistake in my post to you....saying Trump instead of Kasich. It’s just a mental slip, and saying lamp post instead of door post on Kasich’s part was probably a slip. Why do I think so? Because he so clearly nailed the Joseph story and quote at the end of the article.
I’ve also been in a small gathering with him a few times. The man is not a novice Christian. He knows his bible pretty well, so he knows ‘door post’.
But, as you say, it probably wasn’t the best setting for that discussion.
Really good stuff, avenir. Thanks for sharing.
LOOK
LETS GET real

Maybe he learned everything he knows about religion from listening to Glenn Beck. Mixing Mormonism with Judaism and Christianity can get you confused.
Kasich attends Bible study. Guess they haven’t gotten to the first chapter of Romans yet.
..... We were also for some reason taught that the last supper actually took place during the Jewish Passover meal. I was also taught that during the traditional meal Jesus redefined the meaning of the "Old Testament" traditions of the Passover and thus the "New Testament" was sealed upon His death. This is evident in the words of Jesus during the last supper and his references to the wine and the bread as being his blood and body during the meal.
..... Don't forget .... Jesus was born a Jew.
... I never had a reason to doubt my father and it all made sense to me.
You too.
Personally, I’ve never thought much for the idea of sacrifice, even from the Old Testament. It strikes me as a strain of primitivism that the ritualistic slaughter of an animal can expiate human sin.
But then, in the meaning of Israel, I argue and struggle with God quite often. It doesn’t devalue the overall validity of scripture for me in the sense that I sometimes see it as, say, the understanding of leprosy therein, which one would seem hard pressed not to recognize the fear of it then as primitively informed.
As for prayer, I pray mainly for others and very little for myself, knowing that God knows my heart, even at its most hidden levels. ...Except in the sense that your father seemed to understand it. “God, give me patience....”
All Good to You and Yours.
Kasich: So ready to be Trump’s Biden. The gaffe machine is getting warmed up.
Just awful. Like reading some stoner talking about all the spooky things going on drawn into the back of a dollar bill, man.
God, give me patience....
LOL! No - he explained that he would just pray. Thanking God, praying through all the people in his life, praying for strangers he would see while driving or waiting in line.
Although I’m guessing he prayed for patience many times too!
Agreed.
Kasich has some serious mental issues.
“this midwest cornball is the political equivalent of

Just waiting for the ping pong balls to drop...
