Path to certain failure: NeverTrump + NeverCruz = NeverWin = LostSCOTUS = LostFreedom = LostNation

Posted on 04/13/2016 2:36:02 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Captain obvious here again, but NeverTrump/NeverCruz is not the way. We all have our favorites, but don't lose sight of the mission.

The mission on FR is to secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our POSTERITY!!

It's a lot bigger than you or me or our personal opinions or egos. It's about the very survival of our nation and the promise of freedom for future generations.

Reagan said that freedom is never more than one generation from extinction and he was 100% correct.

President Clinton or President Sanders means the end of freedom in America.

Do not let freedom expire on our watch!!

Free Republic will support our Republican nominee whoever he is against the godless Marxist/socialist Democrats in November!!

“NeverTrump/NeverCruz is not the way.”

Thank you, Jim. I encourage all posters to stop the vitriol against BOTH candidates. I encourage you and your moderators to tell those who smear either Trump or Cruz to knock it off.

For the love of our nation, and in an effort to defeat Hillary, I encourage you and the moderators to keep FR a place where NEITHER candidate is smeared with unfounded allegations and nasty images.

To be direct: There are TONS of anti-Cruz images on this site. TONS. Every thread. To facilitate your request, and to invite the goodwill of both Trump and Cruz supporters, please encourage FReepers to stop trashing EITHER candidate.

Amen JimRob.

We have to get over our hatred for each other. At least long enough to defeat our true enemy — liberalism.

Either Cruz or Trump is infinitely better than Hillary (or Bernie) and no one is going to be able to convince me otherwise.

I don’t know much about Mormons. I think Cruz would have won Utah no matter what, because it was such a large margin. I hate illegal immigration, but it’s not my primary issue. It’s probably in the top 3. I’m concerned about the debt and the never-ending growth of government. Cruz has been good enough on illegal immigration for me. He’s been consistent on the need to cut the size of government. I’ve heard enough from Trump to think he’ll do nothing on that front. Just run the government better, but not cut it.

To me, if Trump was a true crusader on illegal immigration, why haven’t we heard anything from him prior to him running for President? If Trump wins the Presidency, I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t think he’s going to do jack to the illegal immigrants.

Many South Carolinians were outraged by the party’s decision to forgo a primary election and former Governor Strom Thurmond entered the race as a write-in candidate.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate_election_in_South_Carolina,_1954

The larger point is that in a high stakes election ( in this case a senate seat) , A write in campaign
can succeed in the context of a ‘non’ or ‘unjust’ primary.

“LDS/Utah supports open borders and illegal immigration, as well as welcoming Muslim refugees with open arms. “

Then they should keep then within their borders! Instead they inflict them on the rest of us.

Like you, this is my #1 issue. I moved 2300 miles to get back to the US. it is heaven to be where only English is heard. but with amnesty, I only give this place another 15-20 years until it is ruined. and I’ll have nowhere else to move to.

Pretty sure he wrote about it in one of his books years ago.

Your analogy is again inapt, for in your new one, it is a baseball game, but in the GOP primary, the game is like a semifinal, and the loser of the game would usually want the winner to win the next game in the playoffs, because they are on the same overall team.

See, that makes a big difference. What Cruz is doing is guaranteeing that if he did win this game, he loses the next one. And he is hurting the team that is currently winning, and is likely to win (making them waste their closer in relief) such that they are more likely to lose the championship.

Not good.

If this were baseball, when one side is 8 runs ahead after 8 innings, the other side would concede so that the winner could rest up for the next game, at which the loser would even help out.

It is incumbent on the voter to balance the evils on one side against the evils on the other. While I see the evils on both sides of the republican primary, I recognize how they pale against the burning evil on the democrat side.

But it is also incumbent on the politicians to recognize they need to reign in their own evils, as best they can. Trump is a bit of a loose cannon. Cruz is using every shady trick in the book, while accusing Trump of using such tricks. Both are wallowing in their own evils.

But neither approaches the evil proudly claimed by her thighness and the Bernmaster.

“To me, if Trump was a true crusader on illegal immigration, why haven’t we heard anything from him prior to him running for President? “

Because he wasn’t a politician. He was busy running a very successful business. He’s a type A, and likely out all his energy into the many issues on the many deals he had going at one time.

Trump was earning a living, paying taxes, employing thousands. Not giving speeches to empty rooms and patting himself in the back for just talking. He was accomplishing things.

I no longer consider, Ted Cruz, a viable option, Mr. Robertson.

He is completely in bed with the GOP establishment and is not the outsider that he claimed to be.

It’s Donald Trump or we stay at home.

“Florida and Virginia haven’t had an honest election in a decade.”

I’m not sure what you’re talking about; Florida has made great strides the past decade ensuring election integrity. You still haven’t made the case as to why Cruz would win WI.

Wisconsin? Cruz won Wisconsin due to Kasich fracturing the anti-Cruz vote, simple as that.

When half the State votes against a candidate as Wisconsin did Cruz, that translates into Wisconsin ending up in the 'RAT column come November.

His unethical methods might be acceptable to democrat voters, but conservatives expect more from their candidate. Especially when he claims to be the most conservative, most Christian candidate ever.

Exactly so.

It started in Louisiana, then he went into Missouri and tried the same tactic, but he was recently slapped down by Missouri.

Voters hate sneaky, backdoor shenanigans, even if those shenanigans are "within the rules," that voters hadn't heard about or are not familiar with. All that insider, dirty dealings are hated and despised by voters and hence the candidate becomes hated and despised. Hello, Senator Cruz! Are you deaf?

Mr. Trump is far from the perfect candidate, but he's withstood an onslaught of negativity that's heretofore never been seen and never been launched against any candidate by so many persons, people, PACS, media outlets and governments! It's unreal, and yet he maintains the lead!

Just think where Mr. Trump would be had he been treated fairly!!!
I hate the media and I hate Super PACS!

I am ALL IN for Mr. Trump and I pray for him.

He's on with Hannity now!

Well, you've got me there, I haven't read Trump's books. Even if he did write about it, what else has he done? Cruz voted against the Gang of 8 bill. He's been beaten from pillar to post during the campaign because of what he said while debating the bill, offering poison pill amendments, and what not. Where was Trump when all that was going on? If illegal immigration is your issue, and you believe Trump, then he's probably your guy. I'd rather have the guy who's going to cut government and repeal Obamacare.

It is over. We are way way way way past the point of return. This nation and Europe (with all of its sick invaders) are toast.

Sorry to speak the truth.

Americans are lazy. Nobody is taking to the streets over this unjust political season. The new generation are the laziest.

It is over. We had a good run.

It may be that the majority of freepers feel that Ted’s continuing to press for the use of a brokered convention to try and win a nomination that he could not win by a clear majority in the states, and to do so by subverting the will of the majority of the people who selected and voted for the presumptive nominee, not to mention the much greater number of delegates who also have selected Trump... is divisive, non democratic and outright theft by manipulation.

Screaming its “fair and within the rules” does not make it moral, effective or right.

And that being the case, if that is the position that the site owner also takes... some folks may want to leave.

Ted is only staying in at this point, only to deny Donald Trump, the clear leader and the presumptive nominee... the position that Ted covets but will never have. Ted could help, but instead his actions serve to hurt the likelihood of our national survival.

His intent by action is to win or destroy his fellow republicans. And by domino affect, the nation.

Ted needs his supporters tell him to drop out graciously and get the REAL job done, which will never be accomplished by following the extremist supporters with their visions of grandeur, like Beck and Romney.

I think we will be at the place next week after New York where it will be blatantly apparent, who is for and who is against the best interests of the USA.

The #NeverTrump crowd will have clearly defined itself openly hostile to the Survival of this Nation.
