The IRS is struggling to ensure that illegal immigrants are able to illegally use Social Security numbers for legitimate purposes, the agency's head told senators on Tuesday, without allowing the numbers to be used for "bad" reasons.
IRS Commissioner John Koskinen made the statement in response to a question from Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind., during a session of the Senate Finance Committee about why the IRS appears to be collaborating with taxpayers who file tax returns using fraudulent information. Coats said that his staff had discovered the practice after looking into agency procedures.
"What we learned is that ... the IRS continues to process tax returns with false W-2 information and issue refunds as if they were routine tax returns, and say that's not really our job," Coats said. "We also learned the IRS ignores notifications from the Social Security Administration that a name does not match a Social Security number, and you use your own system to determine whether a number is valid."
Asked to explain those practices, Koskinen replied, "What happens in these situations is someone is using a Social Security number to get a job, but they're filing their tax return with their [taxpayer identification number]." What that means, he said, is that "they are undocumented aliens … . They're paying taxes. It's in everybody's interest to have them pay the taxes they owe."

Congress has the authority to arrest and imprison those found in Contempt. The power extends throughout the United States and is an inherent power (does not depend upon legislated act)
If found in Contempt the person can be arrested under a warrant of the Speaker of the House of Representatives or President of the Senate, by the respective Sergeant at Arms.
Statutory criminal contempt is an alternative to inherent contempt.
Under the inherent contempt power Congress may imprison a person for a specific period of time or an indefinite period of time, except a person imprisoned by the House of Representatives may not be imprisoned beyond adjournment of a session of Congress.
Imprisonment may be coercive or punitive.

B.S. Very few, if any, illegal aliens have any federal or state income tax withheld. They file the tax returns, with zero FIT tax withheld, and collect big refundable child tax credits and earned income tax credits. Filing a tax return and paying taxes are two different things.

Why waste time going after people who invade our country and then steal people’s identities when the new mission is to use those thousands of newly hired and armed IRS agents to go after US citizens who haven’t paid their Obamacare “protection money”.
Billions of dollars worth of checks get mailed out to illegal aliens every year.

I worked for the IRS from January of 1971 to November 1984. One of the first things I noticed when processing duplicate (amended) tax returns was the frequent use of Person A’s social security number by Person B to file a fraudulent tax return and get a fraudulent refund. It was very easy to determine which one was the phony taxpayer. I asked my supervisor if we could/should go after the faker, and she said “...No, that’s not our job...”. This was over 40 years ago! Somethings never change.
Years later, in my own tax practice I helped a neighbor’s sister get out from under a heavy tax assessment caused by two illegal aliens using her social security number in two other states. Of course those illegals didn’t file tax returns, so the IRS sticks my client with the tax bill claiming “...you didn’t report this W-2 income on your tax return...”. Of course she didn’t, it wasn’t her income! BTW, the illegals made more income than my client and paid ZERO taxes. I asked the IRS employee I dealt with if they could go after the two imposters and she said “..oh, we don’t know where they are...”. WTH! I said you have their W-2’s with their addresses on them and you know who their employer is, why don’t you just go pick ‘em up? “That’s not our job.” Any wonder why I quit such a lame outfit?

This is so true, see my post #17. I know first hand they aren't paying income taxes. The fraudulent EIC they get far exceeds the paltry FICA taxes withheld from their phony wages. Not to mention the welfare benefits they suck out of us. Then there is the cash under the table they make and refuse to report on the bogus tax returns they do file.
Fantastic. A federal agency is using federal dollars to violate federal law. There is nothing that isn’t covered in the feces that spews out of Obama.
AND BY THE WAY! The illegals aren’t hiding in the shadows. They are openly flaunting the laws. We know where to mail their check but we can’t find them and deport them? To hell with the whole Obamanation.
