Former CO GOP Chair: Message We're Sending Is "Your Vote Doesn't Matter
Real Clear Politics ^ | 4/11/2016 | Ian Schwartz

Former Colorado state Republican party chairman Ryan Call talked to Laura Ingraham today to explain the delegation-selection process works and how it "cuts out any semblance of democracy or the popular will." Call said the statewide convention that chooses the delegates reinforces all the worst stereotypes of the party.

"The very time we should be opening up our doors and being more open and transparent, and welcoming people into our Party, we’ve essentially made the decision to close it off and make it more cumbersome and more difficult. And, to prevent the ability of people to have their voice heard in this process. You’re reinforcing all of the very worst stereotypes about the Party and I, frankly, am very concerned about the way voters are going to feel," Call told Ingraham.

He’s not a politician... therefore he can’t know the rules or have the big inside game

Hmmm, if only Trump had enough money to hire advisors who knew how to play the game.... Oh, wait, HE DOES! He is just refusing to hire them or listen to them.

Only if he will play ball with the GOPe. He will have to agree to be George T Bush III which he appears to be doing.

Have you ever been in a delegate selection meeting?

Now I understand why Jeb Bush insisted that he would win the nomination by losing the primaries. The primaries are a sham for voters who take the time to make their candidate selection count toward the general election. Trump just keeps on exposing the corruption from top to bottom of the GOPe establishment. This whole corruption of voter intent turned into a benefit for the opposition will not end well for the Republican party or their party hacks.

.

The CO delegates were originally slated to all go for Jeb Bush. There wasn’t chance in the world that they were going anywhere else.

No one planned for Jeb to be sidelined, but Trump did it anyway.

So Jeb dropped out.

Once he has suspended his campaign, they needed an insider to be a place holder for the delegates and that turns out to be Cruz, who will control those delegates until the Convention, then, after a few slight of hand tricks, they are slated to go back to Jeb, or maybe Mitt.

Cruz will never get to enjoy the delegates at the convention.

First off, I’m Conservative borderline Libertarian-—I’m not beholden to any political party but that of Jesus. I’m for limited government, the Constitution and freedom. I hate what’s happening to our country and HATE the GOP establishment of Ryan, McCain, etc.

My point is, why are you blaming this on Cruz? All parties KNEW these rules that change from state to state and they’ve been like this for decades. Complacency has its paybacks and pointing the finger at Cruz does not change a thing...change the establishment. BTW, if you look at history primaries didn’t (even) exist until 1913, so what happened before then? If you’re mad at someone, blame it on the state of CO, they made these rules...heck, each state makes up their own rules and the people vote in establishment candidates they get establishment delegates-—it’s that simple. Once again it come down to a dumbed down America voter too stupid to get involved. Give them their American idol and all’s well with the world. Change the people and you change the system and if we (Americans) believe one person can change the course of a people and country for the betterment of society, then we truly have lost and are no longer free.

“Pay off a few delegates and bingo they change their vote.”

Too bad that Trump doesn’t have enough money to pay off politicians, like he has done in the past with “campaign contributions”.

It is the GOP which are to blame and right now cruz is part of that, so yes I look at them both with disgust and yes become fed up of the talking points put out by the establishment which is also cruz only to be repeated of idiots on here who said they were against the establishment just 3 months ago.

Yes and the process was changed to lock out outsiders like Cruz initially. Now you’re supporting that process. Hypocrisy.

“Cruz is a hybrid of Nixon and Clinton.”

Why Nixon? More true would be a hybrid of Obama and Clinton.

And to think there are Cruz people on FR that are totally proud of this crap going on.

Worse, they are trying to say a Banana Republic is the new "conservatism."

Enemies foreign and domestic.

Not surprising, really. History is full of short-sighted people who cheered on win-at-any-cost leaders.

Either they excuse it by saying that Cruz would have won anyway (as they did in Iowa) so it doesn't matter, or they blame Trump for not playing the GOPe's dirty game as effectively as Cruz does.

“Call is the former party chairman. When will we hear from the current party chairman? Anyway, there’s no amount of back-pedaling that can make this right.”

Call was a far left wing GOP chair. Fought the tea party bloody murder. He was finally thrown out as chairman because of his left wing politics on an overwhelming vote against him at a central committee meeting.

If he had a choice for presidential nominee, it would be someone like Lindsey Graham. Kasich would be really far right for him.

He is so universally disliked in the party that he could not get elected to a national delegate spot this year. He gets rejected for that and turns into Mr Populist count the votes. Notice he made no complaints four years ago when he was party chair and the nominating process selected Mitt Romney.
