Sen. Ted Cruz was projected to win the Wisconsin primary Tuesday, delivering a stunning blow to GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump and resetting the race as it heads east later this month.

Doughty... the will of the people works when people actually vote for you.
Don’t blame Cruz because they don’t vote for Trump.
“Good point. I wasnt even thinking about how Trump could abuse the govt to exact revenge. Dont forget the military...he may use the military to get even with someone in another country that embarrasses him. He appears to be like one of those guys that has to get the last word in or have the very last say on the matter.”
What’s really scary about your post is that it is all too possible.
Trump has shown himself to be infantile and vindictive.
I would not trust him to be president.
Speaking of memory holes this is perhaps the most egregious example around here.
Cruz championed the cause to STOP the Gang of 8 and was (rightfully) lauded for his efforts here on FR when he did.
He stood up in the Senate to continue a fillibuster in the Senate in a last ditch attempt to stop Obamacare, something NONE of his fellow Republicans did.
He called Mitch "the Turtle" McConnel a LIAR, ON the Senate floor!
The calls for his nomination were over the top just ONE SHORT YEAR AGO on FR, and if the FR of back then could see what some around here are posting about him now, quite frankly they wouldn't believe it. They'd call it a hoax from the left!
The newbie/inactive trolls in the last year are one thing. I can excuse their behavior (to a point) because they clearly had an agenda from the beginning (destroy Cruz at all costs) but the old timers around here should be ashamed of themselves quite frankly. To allow themselves to be so sucked in, swept away by the glitz and glam of a TV reality show star, capitalizing on occasional missteps and outright lies told about the Cruz campaign.
I thought FR was better than this. Talk about minds being changed and eyes being opened. Sheesh.
Ted got 27% of the vote. He sure must be blaming someone, if he still thinks he deserves the nomination.
Only a smidgen over 1 in 4 votes cast, and Ted still thinks that gives him a claim to victory.
LOL
If Cruz is mathematically eliminated and stays in the race to only prevent Trump from getting the 1237, please explain how that is not being an establishment crony?
Trump more than exaggerates pretty much everything when speaking about himself...and generally everything else as well. ..and in fact is at getting away with outright lying as we know............ He cannot speak without over emphasizing and this with drama and emotionalism...that’s who he is ..a Hollywood entertainer selling his brand. His entire family is all about “selling” the Trump Brand....that’s not going to change if he wins this....
So, you think Trump will betray his country by running as an independent to satisfy his ego?
I see that as a possibility because of Trump’s incredible narcissism and detachment from reality.
Please don’t blame me or Ted Cruz for the fact that Trump threw away his chance for the nomination.
And please don’t blame me for socialism. If Trump runs third party, blame him.

As of Mar 7 (most recent figures I could find) Trump had 3.5 million votes and Cruz had 3 million.
Why are you saying this.
You already posted a frantic screed about not voting for Cruz.
Why did you bother if you don’t think Cruz can win.
I think you and Donald should take a couple of weeks off, settle down and come back with your sanity intact.
Scaring you? Let me paint a picture.
Here’s what is likely to happen. Cruz simply is not going to have enough to get to the magic number. By my calculations, give or take California, Trump will either get it or get close.
If it is a contested convention, and Trump loses, then I see Trump running as an independent.
Since Hillary was winning the south and Bernie most of everything else, the remaining areas are mostly white and northern, which favors Bernie.
It is quite possible in November we will see: Ryan or Cruz (R), Sanders (D) and Trump (I). Then Sanders wins because of a lot of disgruntled Republicans voting for Trump and we get UBER-liberal Supreme Court justices.
Consider Scalia died and was born 1936. We have conservatives Kennedy (1936), Thomas (1948), liberals Ginsburg (1933), Breyer (1938). Picture the old liberals replaced by more extreme liberals. Then picture Scalia, Kennedy and Thomas replaced by extreme liberals.
Then you end up with a Supreme Court of perhaps 5 people appointed by Sanders, 2 liberals appointed by Obama (Sotomayor and Kagan), leaving moderate Roberts and one conservative (Alito).
Picture an entire generation of 7-2 and 8-1 liberal votes, during a period of time in which illegal immigrants overrun the US, the 19 trillion debt grows to WHO-KNOWS-WHAT, Muslims overrun Europe, and Iran (and probably Saudi Arabia and Egypt) get nuclear weapons. China overtakes us economically. Etc. Etc.
Grab your ankles and bite down on a stick.
You appear to be on a buzz or something there Ray.....
Cruz is running for the Primary to win, and that means the Evangelical vote as well...same with Trump....that does not mean anything more than this despite some loony groups who think it’s their call to determine who God will place in office.
We pray for our officials as he taught us...simple. All this other “stuff” just feeds the masses.
Trump is plenty strong enough to win states in the Electoral College. That likely puts the presidential decision in the House of Representatives, where the Republican candidate would almost certainly be an easy winner.
Frantic?
Folks, go ahead and vote for the GOPe/RNC go to guy.
I won’t. I’m telling you right here and now, Ted Cruz will never get a vote from me.
What has been revealed about him has made it impossible for me to support him.
He’s a GOPe/RNC shill, and I spent too much of my life voting for them already.
We either turn this nation around now, or it’s done.
Ted doesn’t have the inclination or the tools to do it.
That was yesterday, and yesterday’s gone.
I am sorry about what’s happened to you trumpers.
Trump was your hero and he had it in his grasp.
It would be great, it would be wonderful.
I did not do the things Trump did that cost him his popularity and neither did Ted Cruz.
Trump went off the rails. He’d barely been on the rails when that picture of Melania apparently broke his tenuous hold on reality.
I did not tweet out that distasteful photo comparison of wives.
I did not say women should be punished for abortion.
I did not suggest we abandon NATO.
If Trump runs as an Independent then he’ll also lose...in fact lose all the more than if he stayed as he is....It would also indicate clearly that he IS a loser if he resorts to that course.
What we’re going to see is Cruz or Trump winning before convention or it goes there and either or win via convention delegates....simple.
Cruz has been anointed as a king to take control of society to bring the spoils of war to the priests and thereby bring about a great transfer of wealth from the wicked to the righteous, according to a prophecy.
Trump hasnt.
Cruz stood on stage and allowed himself to be declared the fulfillment of prophecy.
Trump hasnt.
These are facts.
Trump said he was going to win in Wisconsin. It was a yuuuuuuge lose for the Orange man
You’re living in a fantasy.
Calm down, doughty.
Your guy can either do it or he can’t.
If he gets the nomination, you should vote for him.
I pledged to vote for Trump if he got it ...although it would be the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Well, maybe not the hardest but politically the hardest.
I can’t believe you would essentially vote for Hillary because Donald didn’t get it.
You are sounding a little unbalanced.
Ted Cruz the GOPe go to guy? Ted is the one with the PROVEN record of opposing the establishment.
The record that Trump made fun of because he said Ted should have been more about the deal.
Don’t you remember that?
Delegates’ votes must be cast and counted. That is the only math that matters.
