The Ministry of Defence admits it is reviewing military physical fitness standards in preparation for the expected announcement later this year that women will be allowed to serve in all front-line combat units, including the infantry and SAS.
The MoD denies that standards will be reduced, but of course that is precisely what is going to happen. Generals – having put up a fight for many years – have been told women will join front-line units and, like the good soldiers they are, intend to make it work.
The people who have demanded this change – politicians desperate to be seen as “progressive”, feminist zealots and ideologues hell-bent on equality of opportunity without exception – would never dream of volunteering. Indeed only a very small number of women will want to join the infantry and of those only a fraction will have the physical capability. Hence the need to lower the bar.
This is an extremely dangerous move. Physical fitness is the single most important building block for an infantry soldier. Everything else depends on it. The only people who fully understand the demands of infantry close combat are infantrymen themselves. I have not heard a single serving or retired infantryman say that admitting women is the right thing to do – unless their wives or senior officers are listening. The overwhelming majority are vehemently opposed and many have said that if women join they will leave.

I would add another reason—Israeli men were killed trying to rescue captured Israeli women, who were being tortured. They heard the screams and could not overcome their urge to rescue the woman, and thus were picked off as they tried to go help.

The front lines are with the combat units engaging combat units of the enemy. The things you described are essentially attacks on our rear areas.

I was talking to someone about this just the other day - what would today’s generation do if suddenly they had no ‘gadgets’, food was something they had to produce or starve, the essentials weren’t something you could go out and buy. It wasn’t an optimistic conversation because we didn’t think most would survive. If that ‘armed someone’ offered food, water & shelter, I think many would say “ok”.
Where are all the feminists on this? This should be right up thir alley. Women with bulldyke haircuts buffed up to look like men carrying M4’s to shoot male enemy combatants. Why not just give the women steroids and penis implants while they’re t it?.../s

Yes, but not before they preside over the kangaroo trials and sentencing of those declared to be enemies of the revolution. Anyone who is or has ever been a registered Republican will be first in line.

Despite what is commonly portrayed in movies and on TV, most women cannot defeat men in hand to hand combat, even with training. I once watched 2 police women try to handcuff a scrawny 16 YO boy. Each grabbed an arm and tried to force it behind his back. He simply did not allow them to do it. After watching this for a while, a male cop walked over grabbed the kids arms and handcuffed him. It was very eye opening.

That has been the idea from the beginning - to make the US military so combat-ineffective that it cannot win a long campaign. The choice will be to either go nuclear or quit.
