On the eve of the Wisconsin primaries, top Republicans are becoming increasingly vocal about their long-held belief that Speaker Paul Ryan will wind up as the nominee, perhaps on the fourth ballot at a chaotic Cleveland convention.
One of the nations best-wired Republicans, with an enviable prediction record for this cycle, sees a 60 percent chance of a convention deadlock and a 90 percent chance that delegates turn to Ryan ergo, a 54 percent chance that Ryan, wholl start the third week of July as chairman of the Republican National Convention, will end it as the nominee.

Run by state TV no doubt. At the rate we’re going in twenty years government will control virtually everything.

Yeah, I’m kind of surprised he doesn’t see that. Maybe he does and is just hiding it, but I don’t think he gets it.

They want their power and connections intact for as long as possible so their personal wealth can benefit and that is the bottom line.

You also know how dirty the game is and how much leverage can be put on people to vote a certain way - like hey look a picture of your child at school, etc...
That's a hard game to play on a large scale in the chaos of a short convention. A lot of the Establishment's power comes from the perception that they are omnipotent. They would have rathered that ANYone other than Cruz (or Carson) would be Trump's foil.
Last time in Georgia, the Romney people tried to force a rule change on the Georgia delegation. We didn't bite. I am hopeful that Trump has better organization in his home base in the east, where he will rack up large numbers of delegates. It would NOT be hard for Trumpers to take over a small Republican party like Massachusetts. I will I am not hearing much Trump noise from my inside source in Connecticut, despite his popularity there.
Seriously Trump folks. Go to the rallies. But go to the county, district and state conventions. They are NOT closed off to the public.

I actually believe some are still bound until after the third ballot.
Yeah, the corrupt GOPe still has a good hand—but there is a potential path for Cruz’s machinations. Once Trump-supporting Trump delegates give up, they will IMO largely go to Cruz rather than to Ryan.
I still want a Trump/Cruz ticket, but I don’t think the chances of that are very good right now.

That will not be president come January, 2017.

The Fact is Cruz is hated, by them, hes not getting it.

Trump is hated by them too.
It would take an incredibly bloody loss for the GOPe for either of them to get it.
The GOPe is working just as hard right now to try to assure that Cruz doesn’t get it as they are Trump—they just see Trump as the bigger, more immediate and more existential threat.

"One of the nations best-wired Republicans"I've voted Republican in every election since 1972 and this may be the very first one that I don't.
I'll predict that Ryan will lose by a landslide in any case so I wouldn't be throwing my vote away. Republicans have shown an amazing ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Not really, they would not have to flip as many as one would think, and they have millions of dollars to do that.

“Cruz is being used to block Trump. He doesnt understand hell NEVER be in their club.’
I agree with you on everything except the part about his never being in their Club.
Have you ever noticed how even the most Liberal news networks and websites always have their “token”, conservative opposing entities? That’s exactly what Cruz is to the Republican Establishment. He plays his part and he knows that his political future is assured in the hierarchy. Cruz is only playing a part but he’s sure fooled a lot of people with his fake persona.
