It may be April 1, but apparently Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul is not joking about supporting Donald Trump for the Republican nomination if if he emerges as the party's nominee in the general election.
Paul said Friday morning that he would support whoever is named the Republican nominee, even if it's Trump, telling a Cincinnati Enquirer reporter during a visit to the metro area in Kentucky that backing the Manhattan businessman would be better than going for Hillary Clinton. The senator, according to the report, specifically criticized Clinton's comments in Ohio that she would "put a whole lot of companies and coal miners out of business."
"I think we never get the candidate we exactly want unless you're the candidate," Paul said. "Think about it from this perspective: I'm from Kentucky, and Hillary Clinton recently said she would put coal miners out of business, and she would put coal companies out of business."

Trump could learn a lot from Rand Paul, the only true "Constitutional Conservative" in the race.
You talking to me? Not criticizing Trump’s idea at all.
You have me confused.
Sorry. I thought you were comparing Trump to Paul unfavorably.
My apologies!
War on Coal ping -- Rand's against it. Clinton and Obama have systematically crushed anthracite mining in Utah, now the second Clinton and Obama have turned their weapons on bituminous.
I hope not. I am not a fan of Paul. Although I am glad he’s not on the nasty hate trump train.
Iraq and Afghanistan wars are a shame. If bush didn’t fight them politically correct, we could have gotten in and out in a year.
Rand benefits from Trump mainstreaming his foreign policy.
*stands up and applauds*
Jolly good move, Rand! This is a REALLY smart thing to do for everyone involved.
Well, well.
Ron Paul’s short, curly haired bad-tempered brat finally did something I approve of!
:-)
