Texas’ senior U.S. Senator says that building a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border is not the solution to border security. Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) said during a tour of the border on Tuesday, “It’s more than just a physical obstacle.” In a press conference following the river tour, Cornyn told reporters, “What we need is a virtual border.”
As reported by the local Fox News affiliate in the Valley, Cornyn was touring the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge near the Texas-Mexico border. Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) was also with him.
When he was on the border near Anzalduas Park near Mission, Texas, the Texas senator was asked about a border wall, an issue which has been at the center of the 2016 GOP presidential primary election.

My main reason for voting in 2014 was to vote against Cornyn yet he picked up 62% of the vote. I came to the conclusion voters are as stupid here as the rest of the country.
“We tried very hard to defeat Cornyn the last election in the Primary. He knows how badly most of us despise him. It’s hard to defeat an incumbent.”
I was really hoping Cruz, who is immensely more popular in Texas than Cornyn, would have run against Cornyn in the 2014 primary and drop his Senate seat. Cruz would have won both the primary and general, and our conservative governor would have appointed another conservative for Ted’s prior Senate seat.
Texas would have two genuine conservative Senators and not a gutless elitist like Cornyn still hanging around feeding at the DC trough with his pals.

The Trump wall is metaphorical for a barrier to prevent illegal immigration. He says Mexico will pay for the wall, meaning that Mexico will be tasked to prevent the illegal crossings.
Thus the wall will be a Mexican effort and expense. Mexico will have a change of heart because if they don’t build a very good wall, they will have their heart removed.

We need a virtual fence guarded by virtual guards with virtual guns with virtual bullets. When the illegals cross the virtual border, the virtual guards will aim their virtual guns with the virtual bullets at the illegals and say “bang bang” and that should take care of the illegal crisis. Fixed.

I assume that’s a setup where any crossing of the border can be remotely detected, meaning you wouldn’t need a person every 1000 feet or so.
If this wall detects someone crossing, do you shoot them? We don’t do that. Do you capture them? If you just take them back into Mexico, why shouldn’t they try again? Holding them as captives is expensive and has moral problems.
Best and cheapest bet is to stop them from crossing with a “harmless” wall.
Of course no scheme will stop every border crossing. We only need to reduce from a flood to a trickle.

Write down about all the help he gave GWB too. All I’ve seen of Cruz’ Senate antics is reading children’s books on the Senate floor and pissing the whole Senate off!

And that’s only if it is turned on. A “virtual wall” is just a way for the ruling class to reassure the peasants that they did something, without actually doing anything. How can a citizen verify an invisible wall?
Unless Cruz is sworn in as President next January, I am hoping Alan West gears up to take on the task of removing Cornyn from his Senate seat next time around. Of course I’d prefer for West to replace Cruz post haste in January. What a win-win !!
I won’t be voting for him again. I voted for him last time just to help the senate flip republican. Cornyn has been against conservatives from the world go.

IIRC, there was a virtual wall — from the GWBush administration.
Then, early in the Obama administration, DHS head Janet Napolitano had it turned OFF.
With a few notable exceptions, the Texas Congressional delegation has been a major disappointment over the past few years. It's full of crony capitalists who dust off their Stetsons and boots during the primaries to tell us how "conservative" they are, and how they "fight" for "Texas values."
Sessions, Hensarling, Barton, Marchant, Burgess, etc. They're now part of the problem, rather than the solution.
Compromise - No wall, a minefield. It might even save mexico some pesos.
