WASHINGTON (AP) -- The State Department and Pentagon ordered the families of U.S. diplomats and military personnel Tuesday to leave posts in southern Turkey due to security fears.
The two agencies said dependents of American staffers at the U.S. consulate in Adana, the Incirlik air base and two other locations must leave. The so-called "ordered departure" notice means the relocation costs will be covered by the government.
In a statement, the military's European Command said the step "allows for the deliberate, safe return of family members from these areas due to continued security concerns in the region."

What idiot takes his/her family over there anyway?
So a NATO ally is not safe enough for Americans? This is insane.
Take the “Midnight Express.”
Pull up your jockstraps and move out. The JV is coming.
This is what happens when you “lead from behind.” Run America! Run!
You nailed it.
I was TDY at Incirlik, from Wiesbaden. I was single at the time, and I don't know if I would have brought a family there, but most of the other guys DID bring their families to Turkey.
They must have not gotten Obama’s order to stand down or else he didn’t know about it at all.
I’m thinking, why evacuate family members from an airbase? Is this base vunerable? hmmm
Deployments to Incirlik AB are 4 year tours. Would you want to be four years away from your wife and kids?
Over the past 50 years, American troops have been stationed at the various bases in Turkey.
However, now they are in danger due to not only ISIS, but a Turkish Islamo-fundamentalist government that up to Erodgan’s election didn’t exist. When I was back in Europe, Turkey was proudly secular and the military disposed of any politician promoting Islam. However, they lost, and Turkey is NOT the same country it was (But then again, neither is Obama’s America).
So American troops are not idiots. The fact that this order has been given shows that times have changed and they are reacting to the changes.
Actually, I believe those were South Vietnamese who were trying to escape in the picture you posted
***When do we evacuate American citizens from Belgium, France, Germany, and Sweden? (They all have the same thing in common)***
I’m wondering the same thing. And why just southern Turkey? Shouldn’t it be the entire country?
From Oct. 1981-Oct. 1982 I was stationed much further East of Adana/Incirlik, at Pirinclik near Diyarbakir (where the situation right now is very bad). It was a 1-year remote tour, no families or spouses. The site has since closed down. The region was fairly stabilized at the time and we routinely took a bus into Dyiarbakir to sightsee and shop. My how things have changed.

Strategically so.
"According to my opinion, and the opinions of many defectors of my caliber, only about 15% of time, money, and manpower is spent on espionage as such. The other 85% is a slow process which we call either ideological subversion, active measures, or psychological warfare. What it basically means is: to change the perception of reality of every American that despite of the abundance of information no one is able to come to sensible conclusions in the interest of defending themselves, their families, their community, and their country. It's a great brainwashing process which goes very slow and is divided into four basic stages. The first stage being "demoralization".It takes from 15 to 20 years to demoralize a nation. Why that many years? Because this is the minimum number of years required to educate one generation of students in the country of your enemy exposed to the ideology of [their] enemy. In other words, Marxism-Leninism ideology is being pumped into the soft heads of at least 3 generation of American students without being challenged or counterbalanced by the basic values of Americanism; American patriotism. Most of the activity of the department [KGB] was to compile huge amount / volume of information, on individuals who were instrumental in creating public opinion. Publisher, editors, journalists, uh actors, educationalists, professors of political science. Members of parliament, representatives of business circles. Most of these people were divided roughly into two groups: those who would tow the Soviet foreign policy, they would be promoted to positions of power through media and public manipulation; [and] those who refuse the Soviet influence in their own country would be character assassinated OR executed physically, come Revolution. "--KGB Defector Yuri Bezmenov--Soviet Subversion of the Free Press (Ideological subversion, Destabilization, CRISIS - and the KGB)
McCarthy etc were right. The leftists control most of the country’s institutions now. It is awful.
To add; government schools are BEYOND redemption. They are lost FOREVER.
Turkey was quite safe for Americans for many years (in most places). The biggest threat was being hit by a Turkish driver.
