Let me begin with this. If the National Enquirer wrote a story about me cheating on my wife with five women, I had better be extremely definitive in my response; because if I’m not, my wife –smelling the guilt – would kick my ass. OK, let me also tell you that I wouldn’t be angry; in fact, I’d be ecstatic. It’s fun to count money from guaranteed punitive and compensatory damages in a multimillion dollar lawsuit.

But that’s me. I can’t speak for Senator Ted Cruz except to say that so far his reaction seems —well, not exactly definitive. He calls it “garbage and false,” not exactly a denial. Then he plays the victim, calling it an attack on his family; “offensive to Heidi and me, they’re offensive to our daughters,” he writes.

Actually, it’s not an offense aimed at your wife or your daughters; it’s aimed at you, Senator. Then, there’s the attack on Donald Trump.

Truth is an absolute defense.

Also...I haven’t been able to access the actual story online. BUT...over the years I have read a few Enquirer stories, and they are always “true”.

Why ?

Well, because they word them artfully. They say things like, “it is reported or rumored that”. OR “someone says that”...and that is undoubtedly true.

Some people ARE saying this about Cruz. They are only reporting that people are saying this....not that the “this” is true.

That’s how they get away with doing what they do.

FWIW, I believe the underlying story is true. But my reading experience of the NE is that they don’t directly report on the underlying story, but just that stuff is being said.....

If the last half of the statement has been proven a lie (it is a smear that has come from Donald Trump and his henchmen) why would I or anyone believe the first half of the statement is the truth?

If you are a FReeper or a conservative then you don’t use a liberal website or a liberal to attack another conservative. Do you understand the cognitive dissonance displayed when you do this?

Doing so only steers you away from being a conservative and reinforces a behavior and attitude that we on FR want to avoid. We are facts based here and do not take refuge in ad hominems or other logical fallacies.

Actually, I'm not a true believer.

I started out supporting Cruz, but, when I got a closer look I noticed he's a kind of an unctuous fellow...and he's just not a likeable or trustworthy guy.

And boy, oh, boy does he lie.

I support Trump because I am a businessman and he's a businessman. And I like the fact that he's an outsider.

Ted Cruz, you have to know that the Enquirer story thus far is the tip of the iceberg with 80 percent yet to come — videos, more photos, quotes from women coming forth.

Heidi, you might want to get to the bottom of this and demand your husband sue the National Enquirer, otherwise tell him it’s all over for his Presidency.

IMHO, DRUDGE is letting this play out on its own. DRUDGE knows the rumors and the origins peddling them to media.

Does anyone think DRUDGE was left out?

DRUDGE apparently supports the frontrunner, at minimum DRUDGE covers the frontrunner fairly.

Cruz is dealing with a little vetting, finally. The rumors have been there. Ted would like to blame them on TRUMP. It isn’t working, because the rumors are old and Cruz has lots of enemies who are inclined to use them.

Once again, TRUMP and now DRUDGE let the other parties do the leg work on this scandal rumor, and foot the bill to it’s conclusion.
