Trumped again: The diabolical GOP frontrunner slimes Cruz, shames Fox & controls the news cycle

When is a news story not a news story? That question hung in the air much of the day on Friday, as the major cable news networks laboriously steered around any direct reference to the political bombshell that had set social media aflame since the small hours. Once again the mainstream media had been Trumped, made to look floundering and foolish by the Republican clown-prince even as it wrestled with one of the biggest news days of the year. Belgian authorities had apparently captured a leading suspect in the Brussels attacks, and the United States military had apparently killed an ISIS leader in Syria. But for at least half the day, those headlines felt like footnotes to the hot topic TV news wouldn’t even touch.

With no apparent sense of irony, Fox News sought to recast itself as a sober, responsible news organization, whose guests and commentators are deeply concerned about the toxic nature of American political discourse. During the 11 a.m. hour of Fox’s “Happening Now,” an entire group of panelists earnestly embraced Hillary Clinton’s recent complaint that moderate, centrist, reasonable voices had been excluded from public debate and political media, and that this was harming democracy. The old saw about putting lipstick on a pig doesn’t begin to capture it. Friday’s display of cable-news hypocrisy and paralysis, as the talking heads danced along the edges of the unmentionable story everyone in the real world was talking about, was more bizarre and more far-reaching than that.

Yep. You’re definitely going to convert people by telling them how stupid they are. You sure are smart.

They don’t like Cruz. All it tells you is that you can’t underestimate the American public. Trump is a media showman and he has built his whole cynical “campaign” on bizarre personal attacks on his opponents.

I wasn’t a Cruz fan but I’d vote for him. Trump is appealing to the trash TV Honey BooBoo crowd. But apparently that crowd is larger than anybody knew.

I wish we had had a real campaign with ideas, but that never happened, because the press loved Trump and promoted him. Exactly as he knew they’d do.

Would love to ask the author how is Trump sliming Cruz? Does Trump arrange the dalliances and fly them to Cruz?

Ask the Cruzbots this and see if you can get an answer, I can’t :
If the GOPe steals it from Trump and installs one of their puppet candidates, and then they put Cruz on as veep , will you support it ?

Isn’t it pretty well known at this point that Rubio’s people leaked this story? So why is this guy still going down the “Trump slimed Cruz” road? Has he been under a rock, or is he just lying to damage Trump?

sanctimonious and passive-aggressive are not traits admired by most people who but their nuts every day to survive

although Cruzers seem to think that Ted is gaining ground with this passive aggressive (attack Trump and then hide behind various women) approach, I think Wisconsin will tell a different tale.

“and looking even more like Eddie Munster than usual”

Actually, I believe they are a bit confused and meant Granpa Munster.

Diabolical, huh? Trump should grow a handlebar mustache so he can twirl it when he ties his latest damsel-in-distress to a railroad track.

“Salon is campaigning for Cruz.

What does that tell you?”

I don’t know. They kinda make Trump sound cool to me.
For Solon that is. Makes you wonder though.

The Left sees a diabolical result of a brokered Republican convention. Cruz is the key to such an outcome. If der Hildebeast is forced to leave the race because of the FBI investigation, that leaves Uncle Joe Biden to come in at the last minute. If a brokered convention tosses out front runner Trump, that leaves the Republicans in the same situation as the DemonRATS, with an out from left field candidate. The DemonRATs, will not nominate Sanders because the American electorate will never elect a Communist. So, Biden will take Elizabeth Lie-a-Watha Warren as his VP to appease the Sanders supporters as well as the Woman’s Lib coalition.

The Cuban Mistresses scandal throws a new wrench in the works. I am sure the Left as well as the GOPe is grabbing at straws this minute to neutralize the possible failure of the Cruz ambush.

Short answer: The GOPe can jam it up their nether passage, with a half twist to the right...

Ted needs some Bimbo Busters. If he hires Carville and that other guy with the five forehead, we’ll know the problem’s reached critical mass.

I’m with you on that ...the GOPe has a major psy-op going with the assurance of a brokered convention ...well they can rest assured that there will be a major write-in campaign and they will lose ..I think at this point though, they are quite comfortable with Hillary

“Trump didn’t have to do a thing...this story was already out there and the press was just sitting on it so they could use it to full advantage.”

Bingo!

The day after McCain won the nomination, front page of the NY Slimes “McCain having affair with lobbyist.”
