Mitt Romney will campaign with John Kasich Monday at two stops in Ohio, NBC News has learned from a source familiar with the plans.
Romney is not expected to endorse the Ohio governor during the campaign swing, the source said, but it will be the first time Romney has campaigned on behalf of a Republican candidate this cycle.
It's a significant move for the former Republican nominee, who previously recorded campaign telephone "robocalls" for Kasich as well as Marco Rubio.
Earlier this month, at a speech in Utah, Romney lambasted frontrunner Donald Trump as a "fraud" and warned of the dangers to the Republican Party if Trump were the nominee.

It’s semi-open or semi-closed depending on how you look at it.
The truth is that there isn’t really a ‘registration to a party’ in Ohio. You walk into the voting precinct and ask for the ballot you want. That’s your “party” until the next primary when you might chose a different ballot.
So, I’d call it open, but that’s not what they call it officially.

First Romney spooges all over Trump in a nationally televised speech.
Then he campaigns for Kasich.
What kind of mushbrains do they expect to attract or convince with this? I’d think most people would run the other way.

If Trump wasn’t in striking distance of Kasich, he wouldn’t be doing this.
Kasich must know a Romney endorsement is a two edged sword.
Or, maybe he’s deeper in the bubble than anyone imagined.
If Kasich really wanted someone worth campaigning with, he’d have asked Ken Blackwell
This is a real "Hail Mary" play.
A last ditch effort. I thought the polls were moving in his direction, and I thought he'd probably win the state. Trump's attacks on NAFTA must be landing hard.
