Trump The Hypocrite: Investing Overseas Fine For Him (Outsourcing)
Forbes Magazine ^ | Stuart Anderson

Posted on 03/10/2016 11:37:37 AM PST by AmericanInTokyo

Donald Trump’s appeal is said to be his straight talk. But when it comes to international trade, he sounds like a hypocrite, the classic “Do what I say, not what I do” politician.

While bashing companies for investing in foreign countries, Donald Trump’s own company has shown no inclination to invest and build only in America. In fact, a significant percentage of his company’s hotels and major real estate properties are located abroad. “Mr. Trump is either inexcusably hypocritical or inexcusably ignorant of economics,” according to Donald J. Boudreaux, a professor of economics at George Mason University. “There is zero economic difference between, say, a U.S. car company’s investments abroad in factories and Mr. Trump’s own investments abroad in hotels: both are meant to improve the bottom line of companies headquartered in the U.S. by taking advantage of profitable economic opportunities outside of the U.S.”

“When GM moves factories abroad UAW members lose jobs - USA loses.”

I agree. The only problem is our UAW gets a premium on salary and the salary increases by a large margin every year. We pay overseas workers $5.00 less per person working in the plant. That is a huge margin on investment. Until we can align our salaries, we can’t be very profitable. It’s a catch-22.

Yeah, let us know when he builds hotels with third world standard of living wages and imports them into the U.S. What a dumb-ass this author is.

I’m shocked that Forbes would join in with the chorus of “business as usual” Washington stooges to try and undercut Trump. When I think of leading voices in ending the Washington gravy train, I think Forbes Magazine.

Last I checked Trump is not investing in hotel rooms overseas and then importing those rooms into the U.S.

You’ve lost you’re mind. You can’t move real property. You can’t move the improvements to real lroperty. You can’t export it. You can’t import it. This is pure TDS baloney.

I see no hypocrisy in buying properties in other countries. The government has made doing business so difficult and expensive that companies are forced to move overseas to remain competitive. Raising tariffs on China will only shift the trade to other countries. If you want to bring companies back to the US, eliminate corporate taxes and cut choking regulations here.

Building hotels in foreign countries is not the same as manufacturing. He is building something that people who are in that country, either on business, or visiting can stay at. While building there is being done to improve the company's bottom line, it is not displacing workers who were employed here with foreign workers in the process.

Manufacturers relocating their manufacturing plant overseas are doing so for the sole purpose of improving their bottom line at the expense of workers who were employed in this country. No additional monies are being made, instead monies are being saved in the production process.

Nice try, but not hypocritical in the least.

Another futile try at attacking Trump to protect the entrenched interests.

Trump says that we need to improve our manufacturing base and return jobs. That starts with policies from the White House and congress to make it a winning strategy for both companies and for America. It starts with intelligent analysis of the proper carrots and the proper sticks. Who better than Trump to do that analysis? Who has the business experience and understands the business climates in the countries we will be competing with.

I would hope that no one is suggesting that foreign investment is a bad thing or running an international business is a bad thing. Its fine to have multinational companies and to invest in them. The American Government, has to stop beating businesses over the head with clubs called corporate tax, EPA and burdensome regulations aimed at generating income for the bureaucracy. America needs to make building plants and expanding plants in America attractive, just like states do when they want to increase businesses in their state.

These wonks think we are stupid. They are panicked hypocrites and experts at spinning and think we will not see their fallacious arguments.

BULL!
Owning a golf course or a hotel in another country is NOT OUTSOURCING OUR JOBS to another country. Trump has hotels and golf courses all over the United States employing ten of thousands of workers IN AMERICA.
A SERVICE INDUSTRY is NOT the same as a MANUFACTURING PLANT LOST TO MEXICO. OUR Manufacturing base is going everywhere else and MADE in America is a declining label.
This is just another Bought and Paid For Establishment Hit piece on Trump.

He is the grand hypocrite. If elected POTUS (highly unlikely but always possible in this day of rigged voting machines), the Republic dies.

But more importantly, the Republican Party finally dies (as intended all along)...as the only last vestige of opposition to the Democratic Party that we have. Trump is the spoiler candidate. And he is doing what he was put there to do. Destroy the Democrat opposition from within the GOP. Mission almost accomplished, Donald!

It is no mere coincidence that up until 2012, only four years ago, Trump was donating to and supporting the very same Democrats that are destroying the USA from within.
