Cruz wins in Idaho

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz is projected to win the Idaho primary.

NBC News called the race for Cruz just before midnight Eastern — less than an hour after polls closed in the state. Fox News called it moments later.

The state’s result was in great doubt leading into Tuesday's primary because of a lack of polling in the state. Most pundits had shied away from making a prediction.

The Texas senator was endorsed by Rep. Raul Labrador (R-Idaho), an influential member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus.

Idaho awards 32 delegates on a proportional basis.

And, Cruz supporters want to give us another George W. Bush. He’s a Bushie all the way - Bush 3.0.

Kasich and Rubio will be gone after their home states vote. If they lose they will be gone the next morning. If they win, they may hold on for a few weeks to see if there is any momentum. Then they will get out. Both are hoping for a VP shot at the moment. But if they can’t win in their own state then it does not seem likely they can deliver it for Trump either.

Up to the moment, doing quick arithmetic, Trump has got 175,000 more votes than Ted Cruz tonight.

Cruz has very carefully husbanded his resources to go for the maximum # of delegates in all the little states, and all the easily manipulated out of the way states.

But despite the fervid hype, he is drastically below where he needed to be, and where he expected to be, to win the nomination.

He was supposed to own the South on Super Tuesday.

Let's see the Goldman-Sucks employee's spouse pick up Florida? Or Ohio?

it is obvious he is merely the tool of the establishment meant to act as Pied Piper to the conservatives, as Romney was meant to lose the last Presidential election to Obama.

But Trump entered the race and started taking it by storm, so the strategy changed: Cruz was supposed to eat up enough Trump votes to deny him the nomination.

You pal are the true Pharisee because YOU refuse to evaluate these candidates with ANY common sense in the least.

So who cares about what Ted Cruz’s parents did? Let’s examine Trump the man. Trump has dumped TWO wives for mistresses, been a serial adulterer, owned a strip club and been a long-time supporter of killing unborn children. THESE ARE NOT PHARISEE JUDGMENTS; THESE ARE FACTS — and if you can’t tell the difference, too bad.

Anyone who is a Christian should be able to discern that there is a problem with a man who claims he is a strong Christian and reads the Bible more than anyone on Earth — but really doesn’t need God’s forgiveness and is a serial adulterer. We are all sinners, but if Trump doesn’t need God’s forgiveness, he probably needs it more than anyone.

Well, which ones do you think he is going to win?

People figured he had a good chance in Idaho because of the Evangelical right there.

Now, with a Bush on his team, the 'anti-establishment' cover has been blown.

Cruz cannot win the nomination unless Rubio and Kasich drop out this week and let Cruz compete on next Tuesday alone. Dialing for delegates ended tonight. Virtually all upcoming states are winner-take-all. Trump will continue to win them with pluralities and win the nomination in a 3 or 4-man race. Polls seem to show Cruz can beat Trump in most states in a 2-man race. There won’t be enough delegates left for Cruz to catch up unless he wins half or maybe more states next week.

Oh, JoSixChip good to have you back with your smart comments. Did you do anything to fight Obamacare? Did you call any members of Congress? Did you write any letters to the editor? And, oh, by the way, what the hey did Trump do to fight Obamacare?

The problem with the tortoise and hare story is that people think this story could be applied to everything all the time. You think the same rabbit after making the mistake the first time will repeat it the 2nd time? He’s going to finish the race and rest behind the finish line while waiting for the tortoise to catch up

I think you are wrong about that

(c) If any candidate receives more than fifty percent (50%) of the total vote cast for all

15

candidates in the Republican presidential primary, all delegates available to Idaho under the

16

Rules of the Republican National Committee shall be apportioned to that candidate.

is the language out of the 2016 Idaho Primary

Are you sure you are not looking at the 2012 Caucus manual?

Its 50% of the vote, not delegates

kik - a word to the wise.

You should have declared this a Cruz celebration thread.

It would have removed a lot of the snarking.

It's your prerogative to have an "open" thread, but I just realized this is a Cruz win thread, so congratulations to your guy.

With no reservations. :)

The Trump folks are going CRAZY. So Cruz may get more delegates than Trump. Tough luck kids.

I would urge Cruz supporters to call the Club for Growth (202-955-5500) and give a donation to help them run anti-Trump ads. What a blessing for the nation — more and more anti-Trump ads.

King David had an affair with a women and got her pregnant. He called her husband home from the front to sleep with her, but when the man refused, David sent him back to the front with orders that he be abandoned on the front lines, so that he would die, and then took the widow as his wife.

Incidentally, she ended up becoming Solomon's mother.

Peter denied Christ three times.

Saul of Tarsus used to have authority from the chief priests to deliver Christians for imprisonment or execution.

Somehow, God worked through all of them.

Oh good Lord, you have no sense of humor, nor point of reference about what Trump said. And, with all the flip flopping Ted has done, how can you trust him to not do the exact opposite of what he has said he will do. He is now owned by Wall Street, and will dance with those who brought him. I guess you haven’t learned anything about how DC works, have you? Conservatism will mean nothing when our country is totally overrun by illegals and Muslims. You can kiss your conservatism bye, bye - notto mention the TPP that Ted is in favor of . I can hear the remaining jobs in this country being sucked down the tube. Not to mention a VAT tax he wants to put into law.. That isn’t conservative - and once the government does something like this - the sky is the limit once they pass it - they will continue to raise the rate when they need more money to throw around. You haven’t educated me - you are in need of serious cognitive skills.
