Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz is projected to win the Idaho primary.
NBC News called the race for Cruz just before midnight Eastern less than an hour after polls closed in the state. Fox News called it moments later.
The states result was in great doubt leading into Tuesday's primary because of a lack of polling in the state. Most pundits had shied away from making a prediction.
The Texas senator was endorsed by Rep. Raul Labrador (R-Idaho), an influential member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus.
Idaho awards 32 delegates on a proportional basis.

Cruz is smelling more and more like warmed over Bush.
Looks like 18-14 delegate allocation. Not official. Could change a bit.
Rubio third at 18% needs 20% to get any delegates.
Congrats to Cruz for his Idaho win. Cruz has now won 7 states, Rubio what two plus a territory and Trump has won 14 states. Le’t see what Hawaii holds.
"How stupid are the people of Idaho?"
I love corn and potatoes, I don’t like Ted Cruz.
Drop out slready Rubio. You uust wasted another 18% of the vote.
Who did he cheat this time?/sarcasm..
Romney can celebrate tonight.
I don’t think trump wins Hawaii. But trump won what he needed. The news said Cruz won another state along the Canadian border. Lol.
Good way to look at it.
Sort of. According to GreenPapers.com, Idaho has a 20% threshold to be awarded any delegates. They also have a rule that if any candidate wins more than 50% of the delegates (not 50% of the popular vote) then they win all of the delegates.
So right now, only two candidates have more than 20% of the vote in Idaho. That means that as of right now, Cruz is winning more than 50% of the delegates. If that is the way the night ends, Trump gets no delegates from Idaho. That would mean that after winning Michigan and Mississippi, Trump would have fewer delegates than Cruz for the night, even before the voting in Hawaii.
Ironically enough, Trump's only hope to come out of tonight with the most delegates is to root for Rubio to break 20% in Idaho.
And this might be why ...Bushbots are fully behind Cruz
He did pull an Iowa in Idaho, so, your sarcasm wasn’t needed.
What’s he doing to that mike?
Can’t say I’m surprised. Idaho has a definite theocratic vibe to it.
Oh yeah - they’ll pop out the tea and coffee, except Ted will want something stronger. He does like to hang out in the bars with reporters and drink Scotch. So, I’m not sure tea and coffee would suit him.
Oh, sure thing, the senator who stood alone for 22 hours on the Senate floor fighting Obamacare (with limited support) and called Mitch McConnell a liar and paid the price of shunning, is another Bush. What a crock! And that isn’t the work of an establishment politician either. The Trumpites want to give us another weasel like Arnold Schwarzegger. A real pillhead.
