Morning Joe Laughs as Hunt Reports GOP Establishment 'Despair, Heavy Drinking'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 03/07/2016 4:42:00 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Members of the Morning Joe panel got a good laugh today as Al Hunt reported on anguish in establishment GOP ranks. Hunt said that he "was at an event Saturday night with a lot of establishment Republicans and some Rubio people and despair so understates the case. [ Laughter ] I -- really, I've never seen anything like it. There was a lot of heavy drinking" after that.

A bit later, Hunt imagined a scenario in which someone informs Mitch McConnell that they had figured out a way to stop Trump: with Ted Cruz, "at which point Mitch has a nervous breakdown." Again, laughter from the panel.

Oh, laugh-a-minute!

Al Hunt is a paleo-liberal know-nothing from Before Eisenhower, and he would fain delight at an imagined chagrin on the part of such a gathering of Beltway and Graham-type "conservatives" even if such a group didn't exist.

Come to think of it... he wouldn't be allowed in polite company with any other kind of "conservative," which forces me to guess that the drunken Dee-Cee gathering he cites has to be wholly imaginary.

Therefore, I refuse to entertain schadenfreude over a likely delusion, or a simple lie.

Anybody see or heard McConnell lately?

Seems to be MIA to me. For a while there he was all over, now, nada. Weird.

Kentucky did not choose Trump overwhelmingly, he received slightly less that 36% of the vote.

I would agree that Kentucky voted overwhelmingly for the two anti-establishment candidates, Trump and Cruz, they received a combined 67.5% of the vote.

Cleveland should be fine for a convention that meets normal expectations. “Downtown” is like a convention/tourist amusement park where things are kept mostly safe if folks don’t get too adventurous about wandering outside that zone. But if anger happens out in the streets? I can’t imagine what it would be like if it spills into the neighborhoods, where a lot of folks have been left behind while all resources are spent on “downtown” projects that deep-pocket donors profit from.

Don’t forget bundles of twigs and sticks, for burning at-the-stake, and hand-held torches to light-off the fires. Those go nicely with the pitchforks, and can also be used to heat-up the vats of tar. lol.

‘Heavy drinking is nothing new. It’s been the glue that kept the party together for decades. Those who didn’t drink or drank nominally were excluded from back room. Another reason DJT is not welcomed?’

Boehner must have a plaque on the wall of the backroom, citing him for alcohol consumption above and beyond the call of duty.

The GOPe is paying heed to Senator Blutarski.

But they are OK with this POS!

Call it the curse of high expectations. When Barack Obama took office, the world swooned, America exhaled and pundits declared an end to centuries of racial division.

I think this is pretty funny myself! :D

The thing is that 67% or so of the vote thus far has been for the “outsiders” but Cruz is somewhat questionable. He is, after all, a Harvard Lawyer and a DC Politician, just not totally to heel with the DC Uni-Party.

Bottom line. The American People are fed up with what their government has metastasized into and wants the cancer cut out this year!

They are rallying around Cruz now and Cruz will take anyone , hell he takes Beck, but what Cruz is ignoring is how the establishment will stab him in the back when he has done their dirty work for them and then the Cruz voters will be shocked at how he was treated.

They are rallying around Cruz now

Their last ditch effort to take out Trump. I'm sure 'they' figure once Trump is gone, Cruz will be easy to take out.

Well, looks like I have a few potential investors lining up.

Inventory requirements and product offerings expanding nicely.

On a serious note...can you imagine the press coverage it would get if someone did set up a large storefront advertising these “convention supplies”. Maybe we could get endorsements or “sham wow” commercial by Judge Jeanine.

I am afraid we would have to leave out the rope... Racist.

Yep and Cruz will do anything now to take Trump down, even being cozy with the establishment, but he had better wake up because he and his voters had better not be surprised when they turn on him after he has done their dirty work.

Al Hunt is an ass, but even an ass finds the truth from time to time. I can’t imagine that the leadership of the Democrat Party is any more positive or jubilant regarding Hillary’s prospects.

As for the Republican insiders: Keep drinking, it’ll be over soon enough.

It does look now like the nominee will be either Trump or Cruz...Trump with a clear leg up now in the race. If Trump closes the deal, might be a wise life insurance policy for him to select the GOPe-despized Cruz as VP...I would worry that Rubio, Kasich, or Christie as the Trump VP would give the GOPe an itchy trigger finger...literally! These people are that desperate!

I am planning on renting a facility near the convention center where I will be selling tar, feathers, and pitchforks.

Oh I love that!

I'm hoping that if The Donald doesn't get the nomination that it won't mean he drops out of politics entirely. I'm thinking he could become the anti-Soros with all that money of his.

"GET 'EM OUT! GET 'EM ALL OUT!!!"

One way or the other the GOP as we know it has to go. You hear about this dreaded (if you’re a lover of freedom in America once again) GOP establishment but I’m never sure who they’re talking about.

Anyone have a roster of exactly who the top people in the GOP establishment are that want/wanted Rubio/Bush to win (so we could lose again to the Dems) and hate the “outsiders”? (IMO future elections should have ONLY outsiders - career politicians ARE the problem.)

OK, I know Mitch McConnell. Who else? If anyone has a roster with pictures, even better.
