John Kasich: If I win Ohio, GOP will get a "brokered convention"
CBS news ^ | 3/4 | Reena Flores

After Thursday's Republican debate, where Donald Trump dominated much of the conversation, Ohio Gov. John Kasich laid out his path forward to the GOP nomination, predicting that a contested convention this summer will eventually stop Trump's rise.

"Frankly, if I win Ohio, we're probably gonna end up in a convention -- a brokered convention -- and then we're gonna find out who the adult is," Kasich said Thursday in an interview with CBS News' chief White House correspondent Major Garrett. The last time Republicans were close to a "brokered" convention, where no candidate has a clear-cut delegate victory, was in the 1976 primary between Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan.

"We don't have many states to be voting in," Kasich acknowledged, but he believes that "we'll hold our own in Mississippi, we'll hold our own in Michigan." He predicted, however, that he would not win Michigan.

He added: "And then we're gonna win in Ohio. It'll be a whole new ball game."

> It’ll be a whole new ball game.

Yeah, if you and your democrat buddies try and pull a traitorous stunt like that you’ll be looking for your balls to play your little game with.

“Oh, please. That’s the kind of reckless exaggeration that has splintered FR and the conservative movement.”

Oh no....Establishment Republicans and well meaning but ignorant FReepers are the only cause of this. Get a clue.

Now that sounds like a plan. If they steal this from trump his voters should write in his name and pull the D lever against every republican on the down ballot. Think they can thwart the will of the people? Payback is a bit!#&

ASSUMING Kasich wins Ohio and Rubio wins Florida, there are still plenty of big WTA states out there, with nobody having a home field advantage (except Trump in NY).

March 15th is merely the next date on which the Trump can put an end to this madness.

The non-Trumps dodged a bullet in Iowa, with Ted Cruz edging him out for first place. They dodged another bullet on Super Tuesday, mostly because Cruz had a home state advantage in Texas.

We’ll see how the none-WTA contests between now and March 15th go. But, after March 15th, the non-Trumps will have a big problem. Winner takes all on neutral turf.

We are possibly looking at something of historic proportion. It is scary. It is also very, very exciting. What is more, the stakes are enormous. The future of our country.

Unfortunately, it's the truth! I thought FR was for closed borders? K-sick is an open borders kumbaya RINO with all the charisma of a turd.

The only reason Fox kept Kasick in the debate was to get Trump out of the spot, he has held since the beginning, was to get him out of the winner’s center spot. /s (kinda’)

Unbelievable; he wasn’t the same guy when he ran for governor; he morphed in to a “compassionate conservative”, which is a progressive hack, sellout, should be exiled, weenie, GOPer”. I despise him.

Most of my extended family still lives in Ohio and he isn’t nearly as popular there as he thinks. Actually most I talk to think he needs to be back in Ohio taking care of business and has 0% chance of winning the nomination. We will find out March 15th.

I may have mis-understood, but they all pledged to support the NOMINEE not the front-runner last night.

If brokered, the nominee could be Romney, correct?

Kasich’s “brokered convention” would almost surely destroy the GOP... Why would he want that?
