Former Bears coach Mike Ditka, who has repeatedly voiced his support for Donald Trump to the Chicago Sun-Times, blasted President Obama during a radio appearance Thursday.
"Obama is the worst president we've ever had," Ditka told hosts Sid Rosenberg and Bernard McGuirk during an appearance on their morning show on WABC-AM in New York.
Ditka, who guided the 1985 Bears to a Super Bowl victory, questioned Obamas skills as a leader.
"Barack Obama's a fine man. I mean, he's pleasant," Ditka said. "He would be great to play golf with. He's not a leader. This country needs leadership. It needs direction. It needs somebody that steps up front. We need somebody like Ronald Reagan.
"Every once in a while you're going to get punched in the chops. But you keep going forward. That's all there is to it," he added. "You know it's not always going to be a perfect situation, but to do what he does, there's no leadership there. I think that becomes very disgusting to me."
Ditka also took shots at Democratic-favorite Hillary Clinton. When the show's hosts played a clip of Clinton declaring Republicans want to take America back to the "Jim Crow past," a disgusted Ditka said that "filthy statement" could make you "throw up."
"If I were to vote tomorrow," Ditka said, "I'd probably vote for Trump."
Well, in Richardson TX we try to speak correctly, ya’ll.
Unfortunately, I don't think the loyal base of supporters is quite as large as it needs to be for a general election. It is large enough to win the primaries. But democrats that don't like Hillary are going to be faced with who they like less. And Republicans actually HAVE to be motivated to go vote. Hillary wins in a turnout battle, hands down. We just no longer have the numbers with all the dependents there are out there that will be bussed to polling stations.
In the General Election, for the Republican Candidate to win two things HAVE to happen. 1.) Typically Democratic Voters need to be somewhere between disinterested and anti-Hillary & 2.) Typically Republican voters need to be energized against Hillary AND energized FOR a candidate.
If both of those criteria are not met, Hillary WILL be the next President. The question is, will Trump be able to expand his support beyond the following he has now when the General Election comes around. If not, Republicans will not turn out to vote. It will be 2012 all over again. Obama was not popular. He was a terrible President and Republicans did not turnout to vote for Romney.
I can see it now- because I feel the same way about Obama- and I truly believe it - just like they probably do.
How do you deal with people like that?
I know I am right, because I have history on my side- look at every failed socialist government...
But how do you deal with people so convince they are right when so much evidence points to them being wrong?
I blame the schools. There could never be so much support among millennials if they were teaching the truth about socialist countries, and that is that they have to build walls to keep people in- where capitalist countries have to build walls to keep people out.
“His fault. Should have run against him for Senate.”
YES!
When the show's hosts played a clip of Clinton declaring Republicans want to take America back to the "Jim Crow past," a disgusted Ditka said that "filthy statement" could make you "throw up." "If I were to vote tomorrow," Ditka said, "I'd probably vote for Trump."
Thanks for the ping.
Dare I say this.
The 85 Bears Defense was overated. They were mostly hype. The Super Bowl Shuffle made them more famous than their play. They gave up more than 20 points 3 times that year. And let Marino score 38 points on them.
2000 Baltimore Ravens Defense, and even the 2015 Denver Broncos Defense was better.
Just my humble opinion. :)
yup- 1000%
we have obama because Ditka decided not to run...
This is politics, not football..................Go Cowboys!....................
I hope your “humble opinion” was spoken from a well fortified bunker! LOL!
My pleasure!
Yep
being a Chicago celebrity, Super Bowl winning coach, and local fan favorite, he would have easily won and no one would have ever heard of Obama outside of Illinois.
I would think someone from Richardson would at least know how to spell yall correctly. ;-)
Dagnabit - my spellchecker didn’t catch it!
:-D
The worst president or the best traitor. Depends how you look at it.
