Trump Again Hearts Planned Parenthood
American Thinker ^ | March 3, 2016 | Daniel John Sobieski

Shortly after he claimed to be a “unifier” during his Super Tuesday press conference, Donald Trump was at it again, lambasting “so-called conservatives” who don’t share his liberal position on Planned Parenthood, continuing to insist he applauds the group because it allegedly “does a lot of good of good things” for women’s health.

Similar logic applies to his position on ObamaCare. He loves the coercive freedom- and job-killing individual mandate, which is the heart of ObamaCare, because he doesn’t want to see bodies in the street, a classic liberal rhetorical scare tactic. Planned Parenthood may do the occasional mammogram referral, but the heart of its business has been abortions, and money, the saying goes is fungible. His support of Planned Parenthood is incompatible with his claim to have seen the pro-life light.

He is not running for Pastor-in-Chief. Look for the Hand of Providence is what he does. If you aren’t hearing the voice of God, then I would gently suggest you listen more closely.

Personally, I don’t think that the government should fund a single thing that is not explicitly outlined in the constitution. We crossed the Rubicon long ago in this aspect.

Is this not a very good start in the right direction and miles further than the GOPe has ever attempted since public funding of abortion started?

I’m fine with this very large step forward.

Haven’t you noticed that no weapon formed against Donald Trump has prospered? Why would that be?

I do not suffer from TDS. He isn't my first choice, but the establishment over-reaction to him is beyond the pale and makes me very sympathetic.

But the over-the-top expressions of support that I'm reading from some Trump supporters is beginning to scare the h3ck out of me.

I've seen this before and I didn't like it then either. For example:

Where does the Constitution grant Congress the authority to fund Planned Parentood, or any similar organization, AT ALL?

I’m sure it’s in Article 1, or in one of the Amendments ...

Right?

Simplifying here, but basically, PP funding takes 2 separate routes. One of those routes (medicaid) requires congress to pass a bill to defund. The other route, known as Title X, can be, and has been, addressed by executive order, as Reagan did—and as Clinton did to reinstate the funding.

With a President willing to issue an executive order on Title X, and willing to sign a defunding congressional bill, it’s game, set, match—at least as far as taxpayers being forcibly made to fund abortions via PP.

So anyone running for office isn’t a politician until they are elected? That is absurd. If you love Trump’s message and want to vote for him that’s great. Good for you. But to engage in the mental gymnastics of self deception just so you can elevate his status to sainthood only makes you look foolish.

Under this circumstance how do you specifically end funding only for abortion? How can you ensure that money for contraception, education, etc. isn’t still being used for abortion? When Planned Parenthood as an organization has been shown to purposely break the law already how can we know that the tax payer money they would still be getting goes where they say it does?

Meanwhile he’s promising to defund the abortion end of it, and they don’t seem to mind.

The left's main defense of Planned Parenthood is to point out all the non-abortion services they provide to poor women. Trump's approach cancels out that argument. And thereby actually has a chance of being implemented, and also forces the PP supporters to be reduced to defending taxpayer-provided abortion.

Trump is peeling away Dem talking points one by one, but the bashers are too blindered to understand that strategy.

“Tell me how is he going to get this done?”

All funding originates in the House. Who controls the House and why have they not defunded federal funding?

Can he personally do it? No, he needs help from the House to push his agenda. Nobody from the White House has wanted to do this before, so again, it is a start.

Why would you be so ignorant to not Hear the part where he objects to the funding of the abortion part of PP? Is the funding of PP part of his obamacare/healthcare overhaul plan he just released? Nope don’t see it! The only ones who approve of it’s funding are the GOPe and Dem reps WE elected to office!

This is one of those classic “hearts and minds” issues.

It isn’t as clearly hard hearted as abortions are. Wise compassion could lead people away from abortion much easier than it could lead people away from the more controversial birth prevention techniques. And maybe a positive thrust needs to be taken for the latter situation. Highlight the beauties of birth, the promises of God through mankind. That sin doesn’t have to hog the picture after all. Maybe a fear that sin will ultimately get its way, is leading to easy compromise today on a matter that used to be considered historically very important (i.e. raising a family).

We can’t be recoiling in utter fear every time the devil plays one of these cutesy games.

If we do, often the result will be to turn on our own neighbor for no reason.

How do I know? Besides the bible telling me so, I got fooled in that manner a couple weeks ago. Nothing like personally sticking my foot in it, to sober me up about what the devil is trying to do, and how. And make no mistake, a lot of this is fear based.
