Exclusive Audio - Rubio Campaign Manager Plots Brokered Convention In Manhattan Donor Meeting To Take Nomination From Trump

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) is plotting to take the Republican nomination away from Donald Trump using surreptitious tactics at a so-called “brokered convention,” according to an audio recording of his campaign manger in a private meeting with high dollar donors in Manhattan obtained exclusively by Breitbart News.

Last Wednesday evening in NYC, according to CNN, Rubio campaign manager Terry Sullivan met privately with a group of supporters, top donors to chart Rubio’s path forward heading into Super Tuesday after abysmal performances from Rubio so far. During the meeting, Sullivan walked Rubio’s money men through the scenario he envisions he will use to stop Trump.

An audio recording of Sullivan giving the powerpoint presentation obtained exclusively by Breitbart News shows Sullivan plotting for a brokered convention.

“That is – I know if you watch the cable shows, they’re pretty breathless right about now that this is it, nothing is stopping Donald Trump,” Sullivan says at the opening of his remarks on aiming for brokered convention. “He can’t be stopped. He has got more momentum, this is it. It is over.”

But, Sullivan argued in the pre-Super Tuesday session: “5.3 percent of the delegates allocated in this thing. We have 94.7 percent remaining. You need to get to 1,237 delegates to win this thing.”

LISTEN TO THE AUDIO RECORDING:

The presentation came the day after Trump destroyed the rest of the field in Nevada among every demographic including Hispanics. Rubio finished more than 20 percent behind Trump, getting only 7 delegates—half of Trump’s 14 delegates. That was an embarrassing finish for Rubio, who spent much of his childhood in Las Vegas and emphasized the Silver State...

I think if you listen to what this Rubio hack was saying is that just because the delegates are obligated to vote for the winner of the votes in states they represent, they are not necessarily, nor likely to be, avid Trump supporters.

As the Rubio hack stated, they are usually long term entrenched and connected, networking state political party politburo. To me that means GOPe in most cases except for the new ones working into the system that are more firebrands and not so enamored with the GOP establishment.

This is their goal. Stop that first draft vote from coming out with a Trump win by staying in the game and keeping Trump from the magic number. My guess is they and the GOPe and Congressional GOP leadership) are already working with a lot of the long time delegates to secure that second/third draft vote.

That’s fine. If they want to pull their hocus pocus then Trump has every right to go third party and I’ll vote third party.

"PROVIDED he complies with rule 40 that states that the candidate must win a minimum of 8 states with a majority ( greater than 50% )."

Majority of delegates, which is why the upcoming winner-take-all states combined with the winner-take-most states will ensure a first-ballot nominee. Trump wins Florida and Ohio, along with his SC win gives him 3 of 7 before we're halfway through the primary season ... it's yuuuuge. It's also over.

RULE NO. 40
Nominations
"(b) Each candidate for nomination for President of the United States and Vice President of the United States shall demonstrate the support of a majority of the delegates from each of eight (8) or more states, severally, prior to the presentation of the name of that candidate for nomination. Notwithstanding any other provisions of these rules or any rule of the House of Representatives, to demonstrate the support required of this paragraph a certificate evidencing the affirmative written support of the required number of permanently seated delegates from each of the eight (8) or more states shall have been submitted to the secretary of the convention not later than one (1) hour prior to the placing of the names of candidates for nomination pursuant to this rule and the established order of business"

What’s REALLY creepy, Jane, is that the one on the right looks like Ted Cruz.

You can start a list of those people, and can put my DH and myself at the top.

Like Huckabee said yesterday, the GOPe should be glad we’re revolting with ballots and not bullets.

But delegates are NOT required to back who voters did after the first ballot

True, but the delegates will mostly be inclined to stick with the candidate they back, at least for Trump and Cruz people. The Rubio and Kasich people would be most malleable. I could imagine Trump being just shy of 1,237, and pulling some delegates by simply saying that he'll make, for example, Scott Walker VP.

When the soap box and the ballot box fail, there is only one box left.

By time Rubio suspends his campaign, he’ll have just a few hundred delegates, maybe not even that many. He’d have a lot of fancy footwork to do to convince anyone to give him the nomination.

By that time, Rubio will want to get millions of dollars per delegate in order to fund his lifestyle and mistresses/boyfriends.

if [they] nominate another candidate over him...Republican voters would revolt. The GOP will lose at least half of their registered voters and Trump in case like that would run third party, ensuring Hillarys election.

Let's take a rosier view. Trump runs 3rd party and actually wins, destroying the GOP and birthing a new party. Political parties are born in issues and as they age they come to concern themselves only with the issue of perpetuating their grip on power. Trump has an issue, that's why he's winning. And it's big enough, I believe, to raise up not just Trump, but a new party.

If Hillary's as unlikeable and over-the-hill as we suspect, she could actually lose in a 3-way.

Third parties in a generally complacent nation do not thrive, but given an issue (and a leader with charisma) they can meet the challenge.

Just my 2 cents.
