Personally, I am not sure I want to endure another one of these things. I mean to me it's a political theater of the absurd. It certainly is not a bona fide "debate" - it is a Q&A session with the MSM moderators in the spotlight, holding all the cards, and calling all the shots. It's again the Right letting the Left run the Right's show. It is a wonder to me that the GOP candidates come to these things so meekly like sheep to the slaughter.
It is also a wonder to me that people like me keep watching these things. Feels a little like Lucy continually tempting Charlie Brown to kick the ball. It's the same result every time: just like Lucy pulling the ball away at the last second, this event provides nothing very substantive or new, no one has time to go into any depth on anything, and the network ends by congratulating themselves on what a wonderful job they did.
So why do they go to these things and why do we watch them? Well my excuse has been because of Trump - he injects a little liveliness into what would otherwise be deadly boring IMO. But I'm not sure even Trump can get me to keep watching these things.
I guess there's at least a couple of relatively new breaking stories that may be part of tonight's festivities, dunno.
One is Cruz's motion to dismiss an effort to get his NBC eligibility status resolved in federal court. Cruz's refusal to get this thing settled in federal court one way or the other does not look like good faith on his part to clear away obstacles that could DQ him later if he were nominated potentially handing the election to the socialists. That would be disastrous of course and I expect more from Cruz than this - seems like he's gambling with America's future.

Secondly is the late-breaking rumors about Rubio and a possible scandal or affair. Gee haven't had any of those yet this campaign so here we go.

We are in agreement as I expect many are.
At first the GOP wanted to limit debates. Now that they want Trump out they will schedule as many as possible and hope Trump says something stupid. After Tuesday Trump just needs to announce they have debated enough and stop going.
“conservative talk radio host Hugh Hewitt”
That is good for a big hearty laugh. Hugh is a RINO extraordinaire. He will probably ask Trump about the ambassador to Transylvania in 1936.
Good write up. I vote for this as the official debate thread.

btt
Telemundo is carrying the debate.
So, will Rubio give the same answers to the English speaking audience that he gives to the Spanish speaking audience?
Thank you I forgot about the debate. Please ping me to the official thread.
:)
Agree
Just saw live in the title. I guess this is it everyone.
See you at the debate.
Agreed
No more debates .
Enough
I don’t want to have to endure another debate either but don’t want to miss it if something big happens. Tonight will be especially hard to watch because it’s going to be WWE on steroids.
HE DID? Cruz is tone deaf. There are all those accusations about the tactics of his "take it to the limit and then some" campaign and his being framed as a liar. The logical reaction to him not embracing the issue getting settled is "Cruz must be lying about being a NBC".
Judging from Cruz's campaign, I'm wondering if he follows anything through to its logical conclusion. It is a necessary trait for a President.
All Trump has to do is come out even on the night. Of course we know Fox and the GOPe will say Trump lost no matter what and that Rubio was the big winner.
We also know if Luntz has that stupid poll we know that outcome is predetermined.
Thank you for posting this Jim. I appreciate it.

ping for later
Trump is focused on winning....period
He doesnât give a Rats Ass about Establishment Democrats or Republicans....
He doesnât have a lot of detailed policy papers since he is definitely not a policy wonk....he is a doer....
Git-R-Done guy.....
He has the talent and the temperament to take apart a good amount of the establishment lobby machine in DC that both parties subscribe to...
We need a kick the table over guy right now....
Cruz is great, heâs a fantastic lawyer and constitutionalist but has ZERO real life leadership credentials....Those are earned not studied at college....
Rubio is a worm...no backbone (folded like a cheap suit when challenged by Cristie, Cruz and Trump) plus flipped on a dime for Amnesty which is why the establishment loves him...
Trump needs to luck presidential tonight, Rubio and Cruz need to attack and destroy if they will at all have a chance...
They are seated in club chairs, in smoking jackets, with lit cigars, speaking like English Gentlemen, and so on.
The opposite of WWE on steroids.
I agree with your assessment completely.
