It's Time for an Anti-Trump Manhattan Project
National Review ^ | 2/24/2016 | Charles C. W. Cooke

Posted on 02/24/2016 7:41:04 PM PST by 20yearsofinternet

For the last eight months or so, a significant portion of the Republican party's voters have been in thrall to a bizarre, Occupy-esque conspiracy theory, which holds as its central thesis that sabotage and pusillanimity are the root causes of the Right's recent woes. In this mistaken view, the conservative movement's failure to counter all of the Obama era's excesses is not the product of the crucial democratic and structural factors that prevent any one faction from ushering in substantial change, but of a lack of will or desire. Sure, the advocates of this view will concede, the shutdown of 2013 was doomed from the start, in large part because the public sided with President Obama. But if the GOP had just held out a little longer, they imagine, the "power of the purse" would have prevailed and the popular dynamics would magically have shifted. The same insistence obtains elsewhere: Sure, there is no precedent in which a second-term president willingly repeals his centerpiece legislative achievements simply because the legislature has elected to play hardball with its powers. But somehow, the critics believe, this time would have been different. Why, they ask repeatedly, didn’t the Republican party just "fight" harder?

Given how broadly this opinion is held, one would have expected the 2016 primary season to reveal a penchant for purity that redounded to the favor of a candidate such as Ted Cruz. And yet, oddly enough, quite the opposite has happened thus far. Led by Donald Trump, the most frustrated voters have instead put their efforts behind a well-telegraphed attempt to burn down the whole political edifice and reconstruct it from scratch. Because it has been imperfect, the GOP must be destroyed.

...the conservative movement's failure to counter all of the Obama era's excesses...

All? How about ANY? Looks like another, "If we insult them enough, they will vote for the rino of our choice articles."

Never, EVER, have I seen so many Establishment types of BOTH parties, and Media wonks trying so hard to destroy someone.

For these folks, this is life-and-death now. Without influence to pedal, no one has any reason to pay them off... er... I mean... donate to them, or invite them to the fancy-dress DC/NYC parties where careers and millions are made.

All of those Maseratti’s in driveways around the DC area don’t pay for themselves, donchaknow.

The GOP has been less than imperfect! It hasn't been listening to its base for decades, and we're tired of it.

It’s not going to be Rubio. They’ll drag somebody else in from out of nowhere to be the “savior” from the destruction Trump represents.

It’s amusing to see this article, because it’s an admission the full issue devoted to bashing Trump failed. Now they really, really are against him.

It’s really just a psyops piece to prep for the smears that are going to be coming hard and fast...”See, we have to go Nuclear on Trump, we have no choice and are right to use any dirty trick in the book to stop him!”

When this doesn’t work the last ditch will be actively promoting Hillary.

Tomorrow night [in the debate], as they stand on either side of Trump, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz must find their resolve and all-but-machine-gun the man [Trump] to the floor.

In his next column, Cooke will delete the "all but" qualifier.

The establishment is cracking up. Now they want us to join them in a “Manhattan Project” to destroy Trump? Sorry, but it’s time to implode the GOP and send the vermin establishment packing. The gravy train is gonna end for those worthless people.

Add him to the list.

You see, he sees the problem presented is that Donald Trump wasn’t stopped. It is as if the game was that Donald Trump was given the Nomination and the goal of the RNC should have been to invalidate that. And somehow, that would give us the nominee we should have.

They don’t see anything about how the people are behind Trump. To the author, we are deranged and out of sorts to the extent that we are a danger to ourselves, the RNC, and the country and therefore the adults need to step in and straighten things out for our safety.

This is the year that will make or break the RNC. But I fear they are the ones who are bent on harming themselves permanently.

So Trump, one of the few people who truly deserves the label “RINO”, is worshiped by the anti-RINO crowd. Wow.

I’m not going to give the bastards at NR the clicks. But I will respond to the last sentence. Calling the gop “not perfect” is like calling Jeffrey Dahmer “mildly disturbed.”

The gop is so far from perfect, it could be bottled and marketed as the antithesis of perfect. The gop is a weapons grade version of f*** up, an evil and kleptocratic organization that has less morals than a bargain basement whore, and less honor than the mafia. In a more sane society, the gop would be an epithet, a tale told to frighten children. angels weep at the mention of the gop, and satan bars the gates of hell to keep the gop out.

So yes, I guess you could say that the “not perfect” gop should be destroyed.
