Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas noticeably toughened his stance on immigration Monday night, saying in an interview that the U.S. should deport all 12 million illegal immigrants now here.
In an interview with Fox News, host Bill O'Reilly asked Mr. Cruz whether he would "round up all 12 million illegal aliens here, and if so, how?" Mr. Cruz replied, "yes, we should deport them. We should build a wall, we should triple the Border Patrol. Federal law requires that anyone here illegally that's apprehended should be deported." When Mr. O'Reilly pressed him how this would happen and whether a President Cruz would tell federal law-enforcement to actively seek out illegals, the Texan didn't back away. "Look, Bill, of course you would. That's what ICE exists for. We have law enforcement that looks for people who are violating the laws, that apprehends them and deports them," Mr. Cruz said.
In earlier interviews, Mr. Cruz had parried questions about what the federal government should do with the illegal immigrants already here and downplayed what he called a "deportation force." "I don't intend to send jackboots to knock on your door and every door in America. That's not how we enforce the law for any crime," he told CNN in the runup to the Iowa caucuses. According to the Dallas Morning News, Mr. Cruz had for years ducked the question of what to do with illegals here, saying that was a question only worth asking and answering once the U.S.-Mexico border is secure.

I don't believe either of them has any idea of what the word 'optics' means.

Good post!

You have had your head stuck somewhere the sun doesn’t shine because Cruz has had this exact same immigration policy since 2011 when he campaigned here in Texas. Actually he could welcome donnie to the party.
Did anyone use a fire extinguisher on his pants?
At this rate, he’ll deport himself.
don’t bother, truth makes them itchy.
He’s been saying this for a while.
After getting his buttocks shellacked, you mean, he’s decided to play remora again to Trump’s Great White.
We need a leading not talking about the constitution and leaning our country. Deeds (Trump) not words (Rafeal).
I could hardly believe how Rubio is parroting Trump’s position on deportation, fishing for votes and for VP.
It is not a change. He has said that all along. They are picking at the “round up” part and trying to paint it as going door to door dragging people out to buses or something. Cruz has planned ways to end the motivation for them to come and to stay. When they are found, they will be deported. Always. There will be no door to door search.
If there was a great big earthquake near a prison and all the prisoners escaped everyone would say we need to round them all up. It would, however, take time.
Or let me see....we arrest all drunk drivers. All of them. But we can’t post police at every bar and nab all of them all at once. Same goes for any category of lawbreaker.
There is so much parsing on this issue that it is just crazy. Enforce the laws. Deport the lawbreakers. Support a civil society that has true allegiance to this country and not one here to gain financially, break our immigration laws and retain allegiance to another country. It is not complicated. To reward them and treat them as innocent victims is to insult and degrade what it means to be a U.S. citizen.
No no, don’t you see. Cruz claiming in 2013 that he didn’t want immigration reform to fail, and singing the praises of giving LPR status to 11 million illegals, that was all just a CLEVER RUSE that Cruz waited until 2015 to unveil to the world. Immigration reform failing had nothing to do with Eric Cantor getting primaried, it was all because of the single-handed efforts of Ted Cruz pretending that he was very earnestly in favor of passing the bill.
If you don’t understand all that, well then, you’re just a paid Trump intern.
“Cruz has had this exact same immigration policy since 2011 when he campaigned here in Texas.”
Yikes! This is supposed to be a plus? He’s been all talk for 5 years and things have gotten for worse here in TX with these damn sanctuary cities.
Trump may still have them go to the back of the line, depending on what he means by “expedited” in his quote below.
“I would get people out and then have an expedited way of getting them back into the country so they can be legal. A lot of these people are helping us, and sometimes it’s jobs a citizen of the United States doesnât want to do. I want to move ‘em out, and we’re going to move ‘em back in and let them be legal.”
Lol, I don’t believe a word of it. Just slippery Ted trying anything to gain some ground on Trump.
Even Ike didn’t have people going door-to-door, as far as I know.
I did too.
I’ve been looking for a bigger version, and I’m hot on the trail.
I found the original photo. I just need to find the parrots.
The credit goes to someone else, because it’s brilliant and they came up with it right away.
Kudos.
I’ll be trying to contact them with my results.
