Texas Sen. Ted Cruz didnât offer a confident response Sunday when asked if he was going to defeat Donald Trump in his own home state of Texas. When asked on Meet The Press by host Chuck Todd whether he was going to win Texas, Cruz responded with âI hope so.â
Worth noting, an internal campaign poll leaked to PPD last week showed Cruz trailing the national frontrunner in The Lone Star State by single digits. The interview comes after Cruz finished a disappointing third place in South Carolina. He did his best to put a spin on the fact he finished slightly behind Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and way behind Trump despite the electorate being nearly 7 in 10 evangelical Christians.

Cruz is absolutely the best choice for Solicitor General.
lol, I don’t know how that happened, let me repost that to the appropriate person.
thanks for the heads up :)
You should just read this thread, there are several Cruz supporters (and on many threads) that say they will support Trump. Sorry, but you will have to do a better job convincing them, not me.

Acceptance
The sooner you move on to acceptance, the better off your health will be.
Compare Trump to the others in terms of who the voters think is the strongest on Leadership, managing the economy, limmigration, trade, etc. Trump isn't running for high school class President.
Expect the Rubio campaign to go into Houston and other urban areas to pick up their votes. That has been their entire strategy for each state.
“Craft Beer” Republicans plus latinos.
I think Cruz will win Texas. Every single person I know is voting for Cruz in this state. And right down the line, they despise Trump. The local talk radio show callers also seem to be heavily in favor of Cruz. We’ll see..
You’re a troll, your bridge collapsed on your head a long time ago.
yep :-)
Trump will win 40 states and Cruz will win 10 states. Rubio wins none.
Thanks. I thought Paul had missed a bunch too, but apparently not.
If Cruz loses Texas, I agree he should drop out. But if he does, Rubio will beat Trump in a one-on-one match. Trump can’t win a one-on-one against Rubio or Cruz.
Trump would need to do more to ensure a victory then offer Cruz a SCOTUS appointment, he’ll need to announce him as V.P. That’s the only move that could ensure enough consolidation on Trump’s side to secure the nomination.
Thanks for the link!
Worst: Rubio
Next: Graham
Next: Cruz
Yeah, the dominoes would fall quickly:
If Cruz loses Texas
Then Cruz withdraws
Then Amnesty Boy looks too strong
Then Trump pre-announces his V.P. pick: Cruz
Then Trump / Cruz beat Amnesty Boy.
That’s what happens if Cruz loses Texas: V.P. slot.
Has to happen. It’s the way the game would have to go.
They were no dirty tricks in Iowa. Reporting a CNN story is not a dirty trick. Not one voter has been documented to have switched their vote from Carson to Cruz at the caucuses.
Aren’t you going to vote for Cruz to help make sure he stays in the race after Super Tuesday? I know you’re very worried everyone but Rubio will drop out and Trump will lose to Rubio.
“Hope”. Heh.
Which is why he just fired his comm director. Um hm.
It’s reasonable for a conservative to take a populist badly.
Some of us are more sanguine about the idea that a populist may be what’s required to defeat the Liberal Uniparty GOP Establishment.
I doubt J.R. will be bouncing actual conservatives because of their principled distaste for populism.
Jim understands who Trump is. If there were a more perfect candidate combining conservative political purity and electability, there would not be this difficult choice.
But here we are, and I think we’ll all live on FR to fight together today, tomorrow and the next.
Party on!
DEATH TO THE UNIPARTY!!!
No, after Super Tuesday Ted can look at the playing field and decide.
He needs to have a good Tuesday.
If he can’t win Texas, it’s over.
But if he wins the majority of delegates that day, it’s totally still on.
