Ted Cruz on Whether He Can Beat Trump in Texas: “I Hope So”
PPD ^ | February 22, 2016 | PPD Elections Staff

Posted on 02/22/2016 2:07:28 PM PST by xzins

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz didn’t offer a confident response Sunday when asked if he was going to defeat Donald Trump in his own home state of Texas. When asked on Meet The Press by host Chuck Todd whether he was going to win Texas, Cruz responded with “I hope so.”

Worth noting, an internal campaign poll leaked to PPD last week showed Cruz trailing the national frontrunner in The Lone Star State by single digits. The interview comes after Cruz finished a disappointing third place in South Carolina. He did his best to put a spin on the fact he finished slightly behind Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and way behind Trump despite the electorate being nearly 7 in 10 evangelical Christians.

Trump WILL win Texas, as things stand now, but I don’t think that it’ll be a blow-out.

That's all just HOOEY.

Trump scores BEST in all other categories, so people WILL vote for Trump, and NOT Hillary, if she's even still in it.

Hillary's negatives are very high. The latest Quinniapiac (2/10-15/16) has her at 58%. The latest poll (NBC/WSJ) has Trump at 59%. It really is a wash and the more the voters see of Hillary, the more they dislike her. With the cloud of an indictment hanging over her head, those ratings could get worse.

The dems have a billion to spend on negative ads, by the time they get done trump will be killed the only saving grace is that a lot of RINO Senators will go down also.Trump is willing to get down in the mud and the blood and the beer to win. He is a street fighter who will more than match the Dems negative ads. He won't like a Romney, McCain, or Cruz. And I am sure he has lots of dirt on the Clintons that he will trot out at the right time. He has been living in the belly of the Dem beast his entire life.

Hillary has a boatload of negatives and scandals. Bernie is killing her with the young voters. Even among the Dems she is judged dishonest and untrustworthy.

Trump will defeat Hillary in the general, Some polls have him getting up to 25% of the black vote. If that happens, Hillary is toast.

>Evangelical Christians vote too.

Sure they do. If they are American, they should vote to defend our Constitution, not their personal religious beliefs.

They’re allowed to defend their personal religious beliefs. Maybe what you meant was they should not vote to impose their personal religious beliefs.

Well I certainly believe that no religion should be compulsive. I do mean to infer that voting who to run the country should follow the Constitution first.

I agree that candidates should meet constitutional requirements. There’s a discussion going on about what those are, but whatever they actually are I’d want to be following that.

It’s an awesome country. I don’t agree with digital voting though. I like paper ballots and purple thumbs all on the same day with picture ID.

“Granted, it is anecdotal info, but friends & family in Texas are NOT for Cruz, even though they were for him when he ran for the Senate seat.”

That exactly describes my Texas family. We all voted for Ted when he ran for the Senate, but we’re supporting Trump for President.

Yep.. voter ID.

I’d also require all reporting to be done at exactly the same time.

I used to want Ted for VP, but that’s before I knew he was born in Canada. Even if you believe he’s eligible under Article II Section I, it doesn’t matter, because the Democrats will freeze his feet to the floor with court challenges.

Trump will never take the chance that his VP choice could destroy the ticket.

I think Cruz will win Texas. Every single person I know is voting for Cruz in this state.

I guess you don't know me. I'm a Texan for Trump.

Per available polling, Trump and Cruz are running about neck and neck here. We'll see how it all shakes out on Super Tuesday.
