Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz said Monday heâs fired campaign communications director Rick Tyler, after his top spokesman promoted a video that wrongly depicted Florida Sen. Marco Rubio as trash-talking the Bible. The Texas senator announced that he's asked for the resignation at a press conference Monday afternoon.

“I’ve been professionally involved in advertising, public relations, and crisis communications for some decades and I realize that politics is hardball. But I have to admit that Tyler (full disclosure, I don’t know the guy) has played the game with a bit more elan and savoir faire than I would be comfortable with. He is significantly to blame for the “liar” stink that is beginning to attach itself to the Cruz campaign like a cancer. I don’t think that firing senior staff is the sign of a a campaign that is going anyhwere and neither do I know whether Tyler being removed will stop that particular rot, but after the video incident Cruz had to do something or he looks like he is behind the antics himself.”

Rick Tyler may have a different version of who was responsible for everything.
Agreed. Might as well do it.
And he should say “Take that nutcase Beck with you.”
Probably but no way he’ll blab if he wants another job.
One down, Alice Stewart and Ron Nehring to go.
Did CRuz fire this sleaze, or just ask for his resignation?
No kidding.
But firing this guy is not going to change the lies of omission Ted likes to tell. That cat is out of the bag never to be put back in.
With this new position opening up in the Senator Cruz organization, I guess this gives Senator Cruz an opportunity to have Michael Murphy advise him now that Jeb Bush is out of the race.
Jeff Roe needs to go too. He’s the guy that pulled the “dropping out” card in other campaigns he’s worked with. He’s nasty.
Good and now he should fire others who have done a miserable campaign.
> In all seriousness, I wonder if Ted will now, finally, after all this, fire his sleazeball campaign manager Jeff Roe.

Ted’s campaign is so full of these Spooks its haunted.
Yeah but that’ll leave just Cruz. At this rate he’ll have to ask for his own resignation before Texas.
Can you imagine a Cruz administration? Scandal after scandal after cover-up after apology! The Democrats would have a field day while the Republicans would be in constant crisis mode.
Rick Tyler is nothing less than the GOPe plant to cultivate the cancer of the lies and “dirty” schemes, its NOT from the top (Cruz) down as some suggest, its the dirty hardball of the GOPe at work sinking their bacteria infested teeth into a great conservative candidate and undermine. Puke on the GOPe tactics and candidate.
LOL.
Why would he make a decision to hire someone as his national spokesperson, then turn around and fire them?
There seems to be a disconnect in his decision making.

Tricky Dick becomes Tricky Ted. No thanks!
I can’t believe he didn’t ask Beck for his resignation, while he was at it. And, David Barton’s. These guys are the The Gang that Couldn’t Shoot Straight.
