Brody explained that evangelical voters are tired of being "political pawns" of the GOP and having nothing to show for it.
Via The Brody File at Christian Broadcasting Network:
For months and months, Donald Trump has been exclaiming, "The evangelicals love me and I love them." Well folks, tonight that love affair paved his way to victory in the all-important South Carolina Primary. 72% of the voters in South Carolina Saturday night with evangelical. Trump won 33 percent, of them. Ted Cruz won 27 percent, and Rubio won 22 percent. So let's not kid ourselves here: Donald Trump is on his way to the GOP nomination and if he wins it, it will be because of evangelicals. Plain and simple.
Let's have this thought sink in for a moment. Donald Trump won the evangelical vote in South Carolina. Let me repeat that. Donald Trump won the evangelical vote in South Carolina. Ted Cruz, the evangelical candidate did not. Marco Rubio, who speaks so eloquently about God didn't either. Both those men (Rubio and Cruz) are solid men who love Jesus. But it is Trump who has done the best job of channeling the anger of the GOP electorate and guess what?
Evangelicals are upset with the Republican Party too.
They've felt like cheap political pawns for years, constantly being used by the GOP to get out and vote and then having nothing to show for it. With Trump, many of those evangelicals feel like they've found the politically incorrect mouthpiece to channel their inner frustration.
Is he the most righteous man to carry the torch? No. Is he the most transparent and authentic one? Clearly, they believe so. Look, evangelicals are not monolithic. There are plenty of evangelicals who can't stand Trump. But as we saw in South Carolina tonight, there are plenty who trust him to get America back on the right track.
So now it's on to Nevada where Trump holds a massive lead. Then come the SEC Primaries where Trump is once again poised to do very well. Let's have some truth telling here: if this was anybody other than Donald Trump, we'd say this nomination process is virtually over. But because it's Trump and he's such a wild card, we can't say that. If Trump is going to lose this nomination, he'll have to beat himself. He'll have to be SO over the top that it becomes too much to handle. I'm not convinced that's going to happen. He has a Teflon quality that is remarkable to watch.
Usually, the "most godless and immoral man/woman" is the one who appears in public pretending to be holier-than-thou, spouting scriptures, and arrogantly believing that their few magic words of snake-oil will fool religious people into voting for them.
Ted Cruz is a fraud.
Hmmmmm! charlatan?
Maybe some one who is a lawyer, first-time senator, had dubious birth circumstances, won’t provide documentation,
spends most of his time running for president instead of doing what he was elected to do, has never had a real job or done a payroll, has a wife who gets a really big paycheck for doing What? to help her husband get them into the White House so she can “make a difference”, Has a wierd pastor, has a real creepy pal.
Whoah, wait a minute, how’s that working for us right now?
“The most godless and immoral man has just left the building due to Trump.”
Yes. There you go. The Truth will set us Free and ONLY TRUMP is stating the Truth and he is risking his LIFE for it. No other politician has the guts—or the independent power to overthrow the Cartel system (Satanists) who took over the Constitution with the unconstitutional and criminal acts of the Bush administration, with the NWO elder Bush and his acolytes, Clinton and Obammy.
Trump better watch his back.....Bushes, Clintons and the Obamas want him silenced, like they did Scalia and Brietbart and Michael Hastings, and Tom Clancy and Michael Crighton and William Colby, and the father/son murdered in the plane who had pictures and info on the Franklin Cover-Up showing the pederasts in government and the White House —the literal Satanists inside the White House in the 80s (DeCamp). (Catholic Church has a satanist also—the anti-pope). All the DUCKS are in a ROW, folks. Trump knows it....so does Cruz and Rubio (but that sodomite, Rubio, is owned by the cartel) and I don’t know about Cruz, although there are rumors out there about him and I don’t absolutely trust Cruz yet. The Satanic powers in place are immense and will kill women and babies.
These Satanists/sodomites will even kill and abuse children-—it is their religion to destroy or corrupt the innocent and take total power. Trump can’t be bribed, like Rubio and Justice Roberts, so there is only ONE thing to do to a man like Trump unless you are willing to relinquish “power”. The rats are scared of Trump and backed into a wall—Cheney is even frightened and comes out of his den.
I am sitting with my popcorn and praying for Trump-—also Cruz and for the failure of the Satanists—I hope Cruz means what he says but the System will threaten and kill his family if he goes off the Marxist/Satanist meme. Cruz understands that-—so does Trump, but he has enough money to hire bodyguards for his whole entire family.
The “pillow” warning is for those who defy the NWO and agenda 21/30— destruction of all private property and Natural Rights from God and the destruction of male/female concept forced on children to normalize sodomy and eliminate Christian Worldview for radical egalitarianism/satanism (irrational worldview).
My mother is a devout Christian. Evangelical.
And she despises Cruz.
She believes that he’s ‘taking the Lord’s name in vain’ at every turn.
She’d stay home before giving him her vote. For her, that’s the greatest sin. As bad as murder. “Don’t drag the Lord into it if you’re not going to back it up.” She insists that, if he were really fighting for the Lord, he’d fight the cleanest campaign. He’d set the stage for his followers, as they’re a reflection of him as a leader.
Because he doesn’t do that, he’s taking the Lord’s name in vain and he’s a great sinner.
She does like Trump. “He’s an honest man. And, when he says something, he stands on his own merits. He doesn’t drag our Lord into with him. If he fails, then HE fails. It’s not G-d’s failure. Trump presents himself as a man - not as an anointed king.”
“it says that the people they are calling evangelicals are not
it says that: If you support an adulterer who brags about his sexual exploits, uses profane language in public, donated millions to democrat campaigns, defends planned parenthood and has a hot wife who poses for lesbian soft porn, and then claim you are a Christian...well, youâre most likely NOT”.
TRIPLE AMEN !
Me too, but how do you know Trump isn't lying just as well? I think we all want America to be great again. Have you bothered to think about what that means? What made us great and how did we lose it?
From John Stormer, Death of a Nation, 1968
"A French philosopher who visited our shores when America was a new young nation left a similar warning. Alexis De Tocqueville said he came to the United States to learn what magic quality enabled a handful of people to defeat the mighty British Empire twice in 35 years. He looked for the greatness of America in her harbors and rivers, her fertile fields and boundless forests, mines and other natural resources. He studied America's schools, her Congress, and her matchless Constitution without comprehending America's power. Not, until he went into the churches of America and heard pulpits "aflame with righteousness" did he understand the secret of her genius and strength. De Tocqueville returned to France and wrote: "America is great because America is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great." (emphasis mine)
I don't think Trump understands where our greatness came from. Please tell me why you think he can lead us back there again.
Blah blah blah. 75%of evangelicals don’t show up to vote.
They have no right to complain about anything.
Why are EV’s any different from Tea Partiers and Conservatives; we’re all played like chumps!
You're absolutely right.
"I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man." Thomas Jefferson
Jefferson was a fraud.
The GOP primaries are designed to water down the evangelical vote. States where their votes count go early when their vote can be split more easily.
Evangelicals have little representation in Congress, none in the white house, and none on the Supreme Court, even though we make up a large percentage of the population. I would like a more representative government.
Duly noted.
And, Van Jones also named only one candidate in the General Election as “scary”. Of course, he named D.J. TRUMP.
He said his crossover appeal is very real, and then described Roosevelt as knowing the power of RADIO, JFK knew the power of TV, Obama blistered Hillary with the power of the INTERNET, and TRUMP masters, like none other, the REALITY era, and TWITTER!
It was rather remarkable the way he described the “nuance” of TRUMP, since one would instead focus on the retail gift of TRUMP, with his tweets, astounding rallies, blunt talk, pushing all the right buttons of frustrated voters angry beyond measure at DC.
from Facebook:
Trump won South Carolina, a supposedly conservative Christian state, by a wide margin tonight.
A few quick reactions:
- Don’t rationalize this. He didn’t win because of Democrats. The man won Evangelicals. The man who — JUST THIS WEEK — praised Planned Parenthood, and who fishes for applause lines by cussing out his competitors and mocking disabled people, and who can’t name a book in the Bible, and who said he doesn’t need forgiveness from God, and who brags about sleeping with married women, and who said he’d love to date his own daughter because she has a hot body, and who supported the murder of fully developed infant children, and who blatantly lies and then lies again about lying, and who has encapsulated literally the exact opposite of anything that could remotely be considered a “Christian value,” won with the indispensable assistance of Christians. The anger I feel towards those Christians in this moment cannot be put into words. They should be ashamed. I will pray for them.
- Speaking of winning conservatives, Trump — JUST THIS WEEK — said he likes the Obamacare mandate. This was, according to conservatives, the most important thing to defeat not but two years ago. Now some of those same conservatives are voting for a big government liberal who says he supports the very thing these very people were sure would undo the Republic just a few months ago.
- If Trump wins the nomination, conservatism in this country is officially dead, and the country itself will be close behind it.
- Speaking of the country’s demise, Trump fans are gleefully ushering in tyranny. I am tired of hearing about their “anger.” They claim they are angry at the very thing they now embrace. They aren’t angry. They’re bored. They’re immature. They’re infatuated with celebrity and fame and money. They aren’t angry. I’m angry about what they are doing to my nation. The rest of us can be angry, but these people have lost the right to have their anger taken seriously.
- I don’t want to hear about second place consolation prizes. If Cruz or Rubio can’t win South Carolina, it may be time to panic. I’m sorry, but it’s true. Deal with the reality, folks.
- According to exit polls, Trump fans don’t necessarily think he’s electable and they don’t believe he shares their values, but “they want change.” Dear God, we are really doing 2008 all over again. People voting for ambiguous, non-specific change in spite of the avalanche of red flags. We are really doing this again. I am so disgusted at the stupidity in this country.
- Bush should be commended for dropping out. He’s an honorable and decent man, although I didn’t support him. The others in the bottom tier, should they stay in, will be doing potentially irreparable harm to this country and my children’s future. And that is something I will struggle to forgive.
- Get on your knees and pray for this country tonight. Right now. I feel we are on the cusp of something terrible. Pray we avoid it.

Thank you for this post. I am happy to see that others agree with:
“if Trump wins the nomination, conservatism in this country is officially dead, and the country itself will be close behind it”.
It’s gotta work out better than electing Hillary’s NYC bushwhacker will. Trump is simply taking out the republican field in order to elect the Hildabeest. When it happens, he’ll take credit for her historic election because he can’t resist self-promotion.
I am not sure I will call it dead, but it will certainly be the minority opinion, and fall even further with all these liberals taking over both parties
Loving your Mom, missing mine, for she was a wise woman also!
Wish she were still here, so she could ... TRUMP
She’d a loved it!
As it were, she died with a broken heart for her country.
Who exactly are the evangelicals?
I have never heard a satisfactory definition.
Better a man who has sinned, but seems to have the intention (and more important, the ability) to "Make America Great Again", than somebody who, while he might spout all the right phrases, is not a LEADER who can MOTIVATE people to get the job done.
later
“I am not sure I will call it dead, but it will certainly be the minority opinion, and fall even further with all these liberals taking over both parties”.
Christians throughout history have been THE minority opinion.
