President Barack Obama will not attend Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia’s funeral on Saturday, the White House said Wednesday. Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Jill Biden will attend. Obama and first lady Michelle Obama instead will go to the Supreme Court on Friday “to pay their respects to Justice Scalia†while the justice lies in repose in the Great Hall, press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters Wednesday.

Obama will fly halfway around the globe for Mandela, but won’t ruin his Saturday afternoon for Scalia.
IMHO, he knows exactly what this looks like - and wants to send a clear cut message to the leftists who support him.
Same goes for removing the Churchill statue from the WH, missing Thatcher’s funeral, etc.
I would not want the prick at my funeral.
Chief Justice Rehnquist was the last sitting justice to die, and Bush went to his funeral. Before that you have to go back to 1953 or 1954 and I have no idea if Eisenhower attended those.
Must have booked another weekend get away, hell 4 Americans were dying ion Benghazi and he went to bed and then off to Vegas in the morning so what does he care about others.

When was the last time a SCOTUS judge was found dead where there were no witnesses and a judge declared the death and causes over the phone and then did not order an Autopsy?
At least we won’t have to listen to the arrogant POS give a eulogy/speech.

G. William Rice is a friend, colleague, lawyer and a leading American Indian law scholar/practitioner. He is Keetohaw Band of the Cherokees. I went to his funeral this morning. He was an important figure in these parts and had won an important Indian case before the US Supreme Court.
Obama honored the Rice family here in rural Oklahoma with a phone call of condolence last night. Yet he has little time for a sitting Justice of the Supreme Court? Disappointing, but not surprising. He should go and he and Bill Clinton could laugh with one another like it is the funeral of Secretary Ron Brown and then fake cry together.

Obama has priorities. He travelled halfway around the world to attend Nelson Mandela’s funeral, brought Michele along (and made a complete *ss of himself there).
