Calling history buffs. Who was the last president to skip the funeral of a sitting SCOTUS Justice? Chief Justice Rehnquist was the last sitting justice to die, and Bush went to his funeral. Before that you have to go back to 1953 or 1954 and I have no idea if Eisenhower attended those.

He did attend at least one. There is a Getty image of Eisenhower attending Supreme Court Justice Fred M. Vinson’s funeral.

here, it seems fairly common practice for the President to attend funerals for Supreme Court Justices. It's an expected courtesy between coequal branches of government. Agree, this is a classless move on Obama's part.
