Donald Trump set to come under attack over Vietnam deferments

In the staunchly pro-military state of South Carolina - where the next Republican primary will be held - the issue of Donald Trump's draft deferments is likely to be central

As the US presidential election reaches the pro-military state of South Carolina, the Republican front-runner Donald Trump is set to become embroiled in a new controversy: the story of how his bony feet kept him out of the Vietnam War.

The southern state is home to eight military bases and 58,000 veterans, and 25 per cent of those expected to take part in Saturday's primary vote for the Republican nominee are either serving or former members of the armed forces.

Mr Trump, who has led polls in South Carolina since July, received a deferment from the Vietnam draft because he had bone spurs in both heels....

So why you said, Trump will change after election.
That threw me off. Sorry if I mis-understood you.

Oh, but that prep school boy spent his high school years in military school. So, when and where did your candidate serve?

My Older Brother was Classified 4F due to severe Asthma.

My Draft Lottery number was 207, but they wouldn’t have taken me anyway because of Vision issues.

Both my Brother and I will not be throwing our Hats in the Ring, just in case a British Newspaper asks...

I was accusing that other poster of not caring what his Obama did. I did sound a little weird. But, I am Trump all the way. Cruz and Rubio aren’t even Natural Born Citizens.

Cruz could have volunteered for the military. He didn’t. In fact none of them did, did they. So there will not be too much talk about this.

People who attend Princeton don’t join the armed forces in the modern era. You and I both know that.

Yeah I wish Trump was less of a temper tantrum baby....but I have in the past, put my faith in outstanding intelligent articulate disciplined politicians and this Country still kills of 1000 of its own babies before they are born every single day, and advocates homosexuality......so I’m voting for the big mouthed New York draft dodger.

Cause it can’t get much worse.

And if he only deports half of those he wants to
And if he only gets back half the factories and jobs he wants to

America WILL be great again.

Just one of the things he said is that if Trump is elected he'll cost us the second ammendment....that isn't verbatum (sic) by the way.

I was shocked...Trump has a concealed carry permit and is totally pro second amendment(sic).

Like most of Trump's conservative "beliefs", he is a recent convert on the 2nd amendment. And while Trump has a concealed carry permit, he refuses to answer whether he has ever fired a weapon.

I would rather support a lifelong conservative like Cruz who has been pro2A his entire life.

And what Cruz said during the debate is that he is the GOP nominee most likely to appoint conservative judges and justices. Cruz's inference being that Trump has held multiple conflicting views on most issues important to conservatives and that Trump cannot be trusted to make conservative judicial selections to preserve the 2nd amendment.

That is a 100% accurate statement.

C'mon, this is way too easy. Name another "lie."

Most Conservatives oppose the draft, so what if someone dodge the draft. We should cheer that.

Most Conservative oppose taxes. It would be odd if we start attacking individuals for minimizing taxes and dodging them

So Cruz would appoint another John Roberts?

Yeah, that worked out well for us conservatives.

I believe Cruz wrote a WSJ article supporting Robert’s nomination after he helped ....or ran ...the selection process while he was in the Bush administration.

I don’t know why you think he’s a recent 2nd admendment convert...and not sure that even matters.

Cruz has lied about multiple other things and I’m sure you know it...and I’m not going to play anymore. Tomorrow is
another day.

And BTW, if you check out the thread someone posted that Cruz’s dad did in fact fight for Castro.

Enough of the Trump talking points!!!

Cruz's preference for the Supreme Court was Michael Luttig. Cruz and 98% of other conservatives got behind Roberts after he was named by GW Bush.

So, after defeating another false Trumpboner allegation of a Cruz "lie", you are going to run away and hide.

Typical, coward Trump zombie. Run away! Run away! Run away!

What case besides Obamacare did Roberts get wrong? Who could’ve predicted Roberts would get that wrong when Obamacare didn’t even exist when he was appointed? Expecting a justice to be 100% right on everything for years is a high bar I’m not sure anyone could meet. Didn’t even some of the stalwart conservatives agree that “virtual” child porn was legal?

Trump openly supported an AWB in the past:

http://www.infowars.com/flip-flop-donald-trump-reverses-stance-on-assault-weapons-ban/

Looking back at the business mogul’s 2000 book, “The America We Deserve,” Trump instead advocated for an outright ban on semi-automatic rifles, referring to them specifically as “assault weapons.”

“I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons…” Trump said, according to ontheissues.org.

It was Clarence Thomas who signed on with the liberals to say “virtual” child porn could not be banned. So if Roberts is considered a failure because of one bad decision, it looks like Thomas at least would also fail the litmus test.

http://www.nytimes.com/2002/04/16/national/16CND-PORN.html

the United States Supreme Court ruled today that Congress went too far in 1996, when it passed a law that treats “virtual” or computer-generated child pornography as the real thing.

Justices John Paul Stevens, David H. Souter, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen G. Breyer joined Justice Kennedy, while Justice Clarence Thomas wrote a separate concurring opinion.
